blackdog Posted May 25, 2015 Report Posted May 25, 2015 I read something about the software deciding what to visualise.Don't get this (see pic) Thrik 1 Quote
Sentura Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 please please PLEASE align the quote button to the right instead of to the left, I keep thinking it's a collapsed quote every time I see it... Vorontsov, Pampers, Thrik and 2 others 5 Quote
blackdog Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 On mobile, in the previous version, when tapping a topic title it would bring to the most recent unread post, doesn't happen anymore considering that paging is a bit weird, having that function back would be great. Also noticed that when composing a reply keyboard comes up but not always the cursor is there so you type for nothing (there's a lot of padding so doesn't seem the textbox is completely in the viewport). Also for some JavaScript reason when going to new line keyboard doesn't capitalize (even after a full stop) Thrik 1 Quote
Thrik Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 I had a look and it seems that if you hit the star/dot icon next to the thread title, that is a separate link that goes to the latest unread post. This also works on desktop breakpoints. I'm going to report the editor quirks to the software vendor so that they can roll out fixes to these things. As the software itself is still relatively new there are going to be a lot of tweaks coming up I imagine. laminutederire 1 Quote
jackophant Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah quotes what even are you?i tried to refresh the playtest page and re-quote a post to get rid of quotes after trying to manually remove them and failing, but all i can seem to do is delete the text. ctrl+A doesn't work, i then started trying to hit enter to get past it all and then it started duplicating quotes :'(i normally opt to go into the code view to tinker, but i couldn't find that button, so i didn't post and i'm now hiding from the imminent invasion of replicating quotes.tl;dr: quotes are even more difficult to edit than before. The quotapocalypse eventually happened Edited May 26, 2015 by jackophant Quotaplocalypse Quote
Thrik Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) Lol, holy crap. Normally you can get rid of quotes pretty easily by clearing the text out of them and using backspace on the empty quote — I just successfully did this. That kind of quoting situation is pretty ridiculous though, so I'll experiment with having quote nesting disabled for a bit to see what that's like.Good job you weren't around back when there was no limit at all on nested quoted and people were creating endless cascades of quotes. xD Edited May 26, 2015 by Thrik Quote
jackophant Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) ok, i just managed to delete a quote with backspace but it took about 20 of them...tried again, it went much smoother... wtf? I don't even know I'm getting really varied results but it definitely seems to help if there's a line (empty or not) above it when selecting and deleting. On a side note there is a serious lack of text editing options compared to before, unless we've moved to some sort of **mark** ~~down?~~ Edited May 26, 2015 by jackophant checking for mark down Quote
Thrik Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 (edited) The main difference as I understand it is that they removed BBCode, so that everything is parsed and stored as HTML. This is theoretically a good thing for performance and maintenance, however it does mean that we can't really dive into the 'raw code' as we could before — although technically you couldn't before anyway, as it was all still re-parsed from BBCode. You can still use BBCode, but it's just converted straight away once the post is saved. There are less buttons in the editor right now, but that's actually because they aren't all turned on. I'll add some of the more useful ones, like spoilers. Edited May 26, 2015 by Thrik Quote

Skybex Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 Any chance we can have a boarder or something between the sticky posts and the normal ones? Gets a little confusing especially when on mobile Squad, El Moroes, Vorontsov and 2 others 5 Quote

blackdog Posted May 26, 2015 Report Posted May 26, 2015 I don't mind the shape of the avatar, what bothers me is the layout of the post which takes way too much space.@thrik cheers about the link, thought that tapping the star would mark as read like on the old platform (desktop) Quote
