twiz Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 I've never had any really serious injury, not even a broken bone. Fractured my finger once. Cut myself innumerable times. I have what I think is remarkable pain tolerance.. Don't get queasy at the sight of blood or any of that. Twice I've put cigarettes out on my hand(once while drunk(right palm), once sober(right thumb...), it really doesn't bother me. I've cut myself twice with a 4 1/2" composite cutting/grinding wheel meant for cutting steel, once on my left middle finger(probably around 3/8" deep, to the bone) and once on my right kneecap. The grinder grabbed on the piece of metal I was cutting, jumped out of my hands, and the blade skipped across my kneecap, leaving 3 cuts. The first was about 1.5-2" and down to the kneecap, the other two werent as long but deeper because they hit the soft fleshy part below the kneecap. I was a little nervous to use it for a few days, but it was the result of a crappy brand of blade, so that went away quickly. Man, that blade will go through anything in a heartbeat. Both of these instances the blade touched me for a fraction of a second. I was wearing leather gloves and my finger just happened to touch it, the blade had no problem going right through the leather and my finger. Then I kept using the glove and burned the same spot probably 15 times, so it scarred =/. I was wearing jeans when it hit my kneecap. One time one of my friends was sitting on the trunk of a car and the person driving(another friend) floored it, the kid slid off the trunk and landed on his head. Gave himself probably a 3/8" little cut in his scalp, on the back/top of his head, but man that cut bled like CRAZY. His hair was doused in blood, his sweatshirt was covered, and we must have used 20 paper towels trying to stop the bleeding. It was a mess. My other friend(the driver) couldn't stand looking at him, all the blood made him nauseus. One thing that does freak me out is heights. Its not even like I'm afraid I'll slip and fall, its that there is this fucked up voice in my head wondering what would happen if I jumped. So whenever I'm on a balcony or something I'm having this mental battle with common sense like "you don't want to kill yourself" versus "I wonder what would happen.. I wonder if you could survive a jump, I wonder what it'd feel like to fall" etc. Makes me very tense as you could imagine. Didn't have this problem when I was a kid, I used to love heights... The same voice sometimes shows up when I'm talking to someone(usually an authority figure), wondering like... I wonder what happened if I punched this guy in the face right now.. or if I'm walking behind a cop, "I bet I could grab his gun before he could stop me". I think I need to see a doctor. Quote
DoctorFlange Posted April 3, 2005 Report Posted April 3, 2005 If you think razorbladeophobia is bad I can't stand: * the noise pound coins (UK) make when you rub them off a metal surface. Makes counting the money from the tills at work a nightmare. * the sound people make if they're eating and the fork rubs along their teeth. AAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!! I seriously want to stab them. So basically I hate metallic noises. Quote
