Puddy Posted March 28, 2015 Author Report Posted March 28, 2015 Here's puddingtonvile... man, this screenshot reminds me of what the hell was wrong with the new Sim City... the scale. You want your city to cross rivers, to have districts and so on. You don't want it to be a shoe box. Anyway, I've been enjoying the game but it feels a bit easy, I haven't been really stretched for money nor have I had to tackle any major problems. I hope mods will start looking into balancing and such! Sprony, Sentura, Pampers and 10 others 13 Quote

Xanthi Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) You guys really have a lot more luck with building cities than me.. The last city I was working on, the coal power plant went up in a fire 5 minutes after I placed it. Didn't had enough cash to build a firestation which ended up with everyone leaving. Puddy Posted March 29, 2015 Author Report Posted March 29, 2015 Building this sort of stuff is one of the most fun things in the game. It's very hypnotic to zoom in and see the little minions use all the exits and interchanges. Especially when you're drunk. Sprony, Pampers and 2d-chris 3 Quote
Sentura Posted March 29, 2015 Report Posted March 29, 2015 (edited) How big have your cities/shitties gotten so far? I had to redo a 140k population one because I realized too late that all my policies were screwing me up and blocking traffic, and I didn't have enough goods to import. I ended up having 100+ abandoned buildings while constantly trying to demolish them. I started over again, right now I got a city of aroun 100k population, this time with ample amounts of own industry and cargo harbors/train stations. Has anyone broken 200k or more yet? If so, how does the game change by that point? I'm already experiencing performance issues whenever I turn back simulation on, but I think that's mainly because I have a habit of developing a huge chunk of land between simulations... Also I think I need to pace myself. Twice i've played for really long sessions, inadvertently ending up playing for 20+ hours straight. Edited March 29, 2015 by Sentura Vaya 1 Quote
Sentura Posted March 30, 2015 Report Posted March 30, 2015 (edited) Accidentally purchased this as my last square... didn't realize I would run out so fast... Here's a random shot roughly giving it scale. I used vertical squares because of easier highway connections. and the waterfront: Edited March 31, 2015 by Sentura AyzOn, ShockaPop, Vaya and 3 others 6 Quote

Steppenwolf Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 (edited) You can also make the game a bit harder by setting some different objectives for yourself. For instance my first city that i posted in this thread. I also started a new map yesterday with the 25 tiles mod and all milestones unlocked (necessary so you have enough starting capital to buy all the tiles). My goal is to to make many small villages and towns apart from each other instead of one big city and that is a bit of a challenge because you need to spent more on infrastructure per citizen. My next step is also getting the all 25 tiles mod. I think even if you create a city across all 25 tiles you end up having a major challenge. Quote

Sentura Posted April 1, 2015 Report Posted April 1, 2015 This was on "Islands" I think it's called. I forgot to mention that at that size simulation began hitting my performance hard. The game wouldn't let me run on faster than normal speed. It's pretty tedious waiting around, and doing too much else meanwhile (such as surfing while you wait, OR trying to save to the steam cloud) might crash the game because of memory hogging. Just a heads up. Quote
