Xanthi Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Of course it's awesome that Source 2 will finally arrive. But it feels kinda like a left over after the big announcements of Epic and Unity. Also no video or screens of the new tech yet... Edited March 4, 2015 by Xanthi Quote

Sprony Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 Come to think of it, this is pretty lame. Yeah, Source 2 will come, as if we didn't know that already, but we ain't showing you dick yet. I would have preferred that they waited until they were ready to show something. I know, some people can never be satisfied. Quote
FMPONE Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 I agree that the Unreal stuff has managed to totally overshadow this. Volvo feeling competition for once!?? jackophant 1 Quote
Beck Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 I guess it's kind of a good thing (for Valve) that they didn't show it off. It'd probably be better for Valve to show off Source 2 once the hype for UE4 has died down so they don't have to compete with the noise UE4 is making? TheOnlyDoubleF 1 Quote
MaK Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 You just wait for the glNext session tomorrow morning. There's no reason for Valve to be there without having anything to show. blackdog and TheOnlyDoubleF 2 Quote
Anth Posted March 4, 2015 Author Report Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) Sounds like Source 2 is going to be absolutely free to use once it's available. However, any product you are wanting to release will HAVE to be on Steam. Which explains why Valve can release the dev tools for free. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/03/04/source-2-is-actually-free-like-for-free/ Edited March 4, 2015 by Anth Quote

FMPONE Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 There's no point acting as if numbers are fixed. If Epic's marketplace starts putting real pressure on Steam the revenue cuts will just lower in response, etc Quote
SamCom Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 Obviously probably not the same leap forward, but it'd be cool if the Source 2 reveal was anything like this was for Source/HL2: Squad and leplubodeslapin 2 Quote
blackdog Posted March 4, 2015 Report Posted March 4, 2015 (edited) The first comment in the RPS article raises a very reasonable question. "Does that mean you automatically get approved on Steam?" Obviously probably not the same leap forward, but it'd be cool if the Source 2 reveal was anything like this was for Source/HL2: I was thinking about this earlier! But like... if they showed this, ported to the Source 2 Edited March 4, 2015 by blackdog Quote

I was thinking about this earlier and am unsure. Valve may make a few changes to their Greenlight system to accommodate for Source 2 Quote
blackdog Posted March 5, 2015 Report Posted March 5, 2015 As far as I remember they said themselves that greenlight is faulty… it was my understanding that the system is gonna go completely, but maybe it was just speculation. Quote
