Anth
GET HYPED LADS!! http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2012/11/11/valve-39-s-gabe-newell-sort-of-confirms-new-source-engine.aspx UPDATE (5/3/2015): Sounds like Source 2 is going to be absolutely free to use once it's available. However, any product you are wanting to release will HAVE to be on Steam. Which explains why Valve can release the dev tools for free. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2015/03/04/source-2-is-actually-free-like-for-free/ Edited March 4, 2015 by Anth TheOnlyDoubleF and Seldoon182
DrywallDreams
Holy crap, I really want to see how the renderers look, because if this can compete with Unreal, shit's going down. And I was just thinking about how Unity and Unreal both don't do level design well enough for me. I might have some ideas for this thing... blackdog

resident91
There were rumors that the Counter Strike Global Offensive be updated to Source 2. Do you know anything? Is it worth starting new maps now?

Squad
There were rumors that the Counter Strike Global Offensive be updated to Source 2. Do you know anything? Is it worth starting new maps now? That's probably just what it is, a rumor. If Valve hasn't mentioned anything about CSGO going to Source 2, then there's no reason to go all crazy about it imo. Off course you can still start new maps, even if Source 2 is just around the corner. I can't imagine there won't be an easy way to port what you already made to Source 2 and go from there. Well I will continue with my plans. Surely we will see a Counter strike with Source 2 in the coming years.
text_fish
Logically, if they can port the game over it will be possible to port maps over.
mr.P
you can import vmf into Dota 2 Workshop Tools Alpha, if you use tools textures you wont have to copy paste materials
blackdog
As it is this press release is a joke, we knew Source 2 was coming. we just need to see what it can do. Hopefully they'll show the engine tomorrow, they must!, since they are talking renderin. On daily business, there's no much point in porting a map over, if they don't port the game. I know it's asking much, but i really hope the new toolkit will be back compatible allowing to make and compile for CSGO and hopefully other Valve games. Edit: WAIT A MINUTE! The press release days "free for content developers"!! This doesn't sound at all like Epic or Unity are doing. Sounds like engine will still be tied to games to me :/ Edited March 4, 2015 by blackdog
