Sprony Posted March 1, 2015 Report Posted March 1, 2015 I'm trying to help my friend out. He wants to start two blogs. One about his love for games. He'll be writing articles, reviews and thoughts about gaming. The second is about his love for movies. Here he'll discuss news, write reviews and also do some articles. It would be cool if the name could be recognizable between the two sites. Like GameTalk and MovieTalk.com (both taken, just an example). We did come up with some cool names but all of them are taken of course. Any suggestions? Quote
Thrik Posted March 1, 2015 Report Posted March 1, 2015 Always difficult coming up with stuff like this. One thing I always find helps get the imagination flowing is thinking of well-known references that relate to the theme without being as obvious/boring as just using words like 'game'. It also makes the name feel more personal. So with games, perhaps things like: Button Basher, First Person Blogger, Doomguy's Writing Desk, etc. Shit examples because I just got up and have a headache but its the kind of thing I mean. Just a little reference some people will get, and even if they don't it's easy to remember. Sprony and FRAG 2 Quote

I came up with: Game Over, Game On, Insert Coins, Level Up, Power Up, 1Up but all were taken. I do fancy Press Start to Continue but as a url that seems unwise (www.press-start-to-continue.com). Pampers Posted March 1, 2015 Report Posted March 1, 2015 There are already popular sites with names that have little to do with gaming, like Giant Bomb, Rock Paper Scissor, Escapist etc, as long as it is easy to remember and something that sticks I guess he can name it whatever he wants will2k and Sprony 2 Quote
will2k Posted March 1, 2015 Report Posted March 1, 2015 Pixel pusher or pixelator could work for both games and movies (not sure if already taken though) Sprony 1 Quote

Any suggestions? Pixel pusher or pixelator could work for both games and movies (not sure if already taken though) I like those suggestions. Pixellover could world too. Unfortunately all are taken Quote

Sprony Posted March 2, 2015 Author Report Posted March 2, 2015 Gamecritics ? If you friends hasn't enought money and content to make his website popular, maybe a good webranking will help (domain name, keywords, etc...) Excellent pick, but taken :S Quote
Em' Posted March 2, 2015 Report Posted March 2, 2015 (edited) Oh my bad, i only checked gamecritic :/ and the website didn't appears ! Maybe some sort of allegoric name, like a youtube channel I like "every frame a painting" talking about movies and direction, then ? By that message being written, i search for "1 picture 1000 word"... And found this site on top results http://www.1000wordsmag.com/ , which is the perfect example of what i'm suggesting : A strong idea that is memorable, speaks to everybody and easy to remember. Maybe you know a citation or a well known sentence (more than me, i'm sure) which mix video games and critics, or visual arts and interaction, writting, etc, and it'll give you a name idea Edit : "A throne of games" ? Depiciting critics by a fake character sitting on a throne made of game boxes Edited March 2, 2015 by Em' Sprony and Thrik 2 Quote
