From my experience doing my own Steam Machine, it's not very worth it.  In my experience, it was a Fez machine, then a "type in a terminal and swear at Linux's generally bad wireless support" machine.

Of course with hardware meant to run it, it should work much better.  You will still need to deal with the performance of Linux games though.  I was having trouble running L4D2 at 60 fps on a 560 gtx.  Once linux gets less finicky, it should be worth it.  Buuuut the question is when that will happen.

Also i preordered a steam controller.  I still had money from selling a TF2 hat :P

Waited for their controller for ages, when they announced the autumn release I decided I codnt wait that long. Anyway reviews for this are a must -- although feedback was generally positive

I tried it out when I was visiting Valve last year (or two years back? Can't remember). Back then it looked like when they first announced it (no analog stick) and it was already working pretty well.

I would Preorder if it was possible over here.

wait... what? 2 stage trigger to zoom and then shoot, but also a pad further round under remaining fingers?

I appreciate the use of more fingers in a natural position rather than millions of triggers, but that sounds really uncomfortable?
