Mvllsk Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 (edited) Just wanted to let you guys know:http://steamcommunity.com/groups/CSGOMapsWorkshop#announcements/detail/230018761209500723 Deadline is March 9th. I'd be happy to see some maps from this community in the upcoming operation! E: Probably should have added "CS:GO" to the thread title. Welp. Vaya Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 If anyone from here has any maps that are potentially operation-viable post them in this thread. More favourites and upvotes the better Quote
Mvllsk Posted February 19, 2015 Author Report Posted February 19, 2015 Will zoo and resort be ready for this operation? Quote
El_Exodus Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 Well, Zoo is already released. And every candidate for the Operation will receive additional feedback by Valve. So im pretty confident, that we'll see it in it. I think Resort will also be ready, but this is up to RZL and Yanzl FMPONE 1 Quote
El Moroes Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 Zoo and Resort are good candidates, I agree ! leplubodeslapin, El_Exodus, Thrik and 5 others 8 Quote
Vaya Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 There was a couple complaints about optimisation for DE_resort during the playtest this week. Not sure how quickly this could get resolved (bsp is like 100mb +) I think there's a number of good contenders from here but it depends on valves theming and own intentions. They well be considering bringing back a couple successful past maps again . Thrik 1 Quote
cashed Posted February 19, 2015 Report Posted February 19, 2015 bsp has to be lower than 150mb Thrik and Squad 2 Quote
Squad Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 Is that a requirement by Valve, ted? Quote
Vaya Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 I'm interested in the process after valve chooses the maps. Do they make you sign an NDA then ask you apply a number of changes to the map? or do they ask you to send an upto date bsp/vmf/radar etc for inspection and apply any 'required' changes themselves? I know someone from here had valve apply a number of changes to a map's lighting before it got added it an operation. It would be cool if you got invited to a playtest with CSGO's team and discussed the design with them but that's probably wishful thinking Quote
cashed Posted February 21, 2015 Report Posted February 21, 2015 Is that a requirement by Valve, ted? Yes, because it causes issues on servers. It also got us reducing and optimizing things we didn't need so it was a benefit. Squad 1 Quote
ElectroSheep Posted February 23, 2015 Report Posted February 23, 2015 150mb is terribly heavy for a map. Quote
onebit Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 blackgold is 180, workout is 150, season ditto. Probably keep it under 200? Quote
Vaya Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Custom assets are always going to make the map huge. If you want an original theme you'll either need to use existing assets in a really creative way or take a hit in file size Valve seem to have gotten around it with the new DE_train by adding all the assets to the stock VPK? Does anyone know if this improves performance..? I think de_overpass used a lot of existing models too so no issues there.... Quote
Adam108CZ Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 Hi guys! Do you know any operation-worthy hostage maps? Candidly, I know only about cs_hijack, tahat's all... Quote
Squad Posted February 24, 2015 Report Posted February 24, 2015 blackgold is 180, workout is 150, season ditto. Probably keep it under 200? ted said it's a requirement by Valve. Blackgold was in an earlier operation than workout and season, so I guess the requirement was probably set (or changed) after Blackgold. Quote
