KIIIA Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Hello again. While learning modeling and texturing , i became a bit bored and wanted to do something i can again (to motivate myself again and stuff). So i started up Radiant an began with a new q3 DM map.It shall become a 1on1 map with a modernized castle theme. Its working title is q3_Technicastle, but I`m open for any name suggestions. Enough talking, pics: - - - - - - C&C? Quote
st0lve Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Much love for the Evil Lair textures Looks pretty good. Quote
Taylor Swift Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 Looks nice but reminds something from Dm Turbine (Unreal Tournament) Maybye a little too dark`? Quote
hamst3r Posted January 29, 2005 Report Posted January 29, 2005 the brick texture gets a lil' repedative, but look very good. Quote
csharp Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Very cool map! btw, is there a lot of q3 servers/players? Quote
Evert Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Looking nice there, but a bit too high contrast in lightning. Try having more ambient dark blue then pitch black in the dark areas. Quote
PhilipK Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 Looks UT:ish. Pretty cool stuff I'd like to see some more variated light colours tho. Quote
Mazy Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 gah, those textures looks awful imo D: also i dont really know about the architecture of things, looks like theres some random vent shafts here n there n som trims there, hmmmm but i donno if you want it to be chaotic on purpose D: Quote
ReNo Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I like the blues but overall the lighting is kinda bland - perhaps introduce subtle variety in the main ambient lighting colour? Quote
Marcos Posted January 30, 2005 Report Posted January 30, 2005 I agree with Mazy. Also if you are going for a castle theme, why so much vents? I think a more orange/yellow or even green lighting would look cool as I think it would match the textures better Quote
von*ferret Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Looks way too chaotic between textures and your brushwork. Your light fades need to be more subtle and less stand outish. I think with some reworking of the lighting and some better texturing you'll find it'll stand out as a more quality map. Quote
ReNo Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Dunno if you've seen any other maps by KIIIA Marcos, but typically his themes are completely crazy mixes of settings. Quote
KIIIA Posted January 31, 2005 Author Report Posted January 31, 2005 Dunno if you've seen any other maps by KIIIA Marcos, but typically his themes are completely crazy mixes of settings. Yes, some of them really are. I agree with Mazy. Also if you are going for a castle theme, why so much vents? I think a more orange/yellow or even green lighting would look cool as I think it would match the textures better The theme i`m aiming for is a modernized castle.A stonecold building from the middle ages stuffed with modern technic, vents and computers. The lighting is planned to support a stonecold, technicold & icey feeling. That`s why i don`t want to add any warm colors in lighting that would destroy the feeling. Quote
DaanO Posted January 31, 2005 Report Posted January 31, 2005 Work out the theme a little bit better. It just looks the same throughout the map. Variations in color have been suggested, and i agree. (But those 2 are related). Just come up with a few crazy elements you could put into this map. Give some areas a purpose (even if you work it out in an abstract way). Just do something to not make every room look just the same. Quote
