Interesting video on the removement:

For me, I don't like this kind of games (I enjoyed movies like 'God bless America', but this was a satire, and this game is not) but when people like that, I'll not judge them.

Apart from morality reasons the game seems kinda dull. I mean, you are just shooting civilians and doing not much else.

Agree with his views, pretty much.

Removing this video game without giving plausible arguments on your actions, is very questionable. But again, everything around this videogame is questionable, the game itself i have to admit.

Still... I'm always very very very reluctant when it comes to banning stuff, the line of free speech can be a faint one.

But yeah... this has been an interesting month when it comes to banning violent games, and I'm not exactly happy with that, one could even argue it's censorship to a certain extent. Sorry to be the devils advocate here, but Isn't the whole point of greelight allowing steam users to DECIDE whether or not they want X or Y game to be available on steam? Then why did valve interfere? Will they do it again? And how often? Is that how it works now? Heee.. i dunno, it's hard.

Let adults decide what they want to buy/play. This patronizing is bullshit. What i really don't like about this is the precedent it sets. First GTA V now this. It sends a wrong signal to easily offended morons that they just have to be loud enough to get games banned (if not by law then from stores which boils down to the same result). I bet it doesn't take long and some groups want to get more harmless games banned because of muh sexism or whatever.

This decision just cements Valve's status as the PC App Store (and Valve's generally crap moderation).  I respect Valve's decision to reject this game, but their policies are way too spotty right now.

Steam, while trying to open up with Greenlight, still is a curated store, and partially thrives upon that.  The games they let through generally reflect Valve's views to the public.  Look at any 2 second Unity game that has been let through, you see many complaining that Valve let those through.

This is all they say about forbidden content on the required donation page:

  • Porn, inappropriate or offensive content, warez or leaked content

Clearly "offensive content" needs to be expanded upon.

Surely desura will be excited about their hot exclusive though :P

People shouldn't be forced to publish shit they don't want to, and this game is fucking trash. I'd have made the same decision

I'm sorry dude, but that kind of judgmental and "moral high ground" mentality is exactly the same as religious fanatics, thinking their entitled to make decisions for everyone else because their "morals" are telling them what's right and what's wrong.

Let the human collective answer the question on whether or not they want this, not the individual in power. In theory, that's what Greenlight is, right?

PS. The game is trash tho, definitely agree with you there, i'm not defending the game, i'm talking about valves decision here, it could be a porn version of pac-man instead of hatred.

It's a PR move, can you imagine the shitstorm if they allowed it to be sold? As far as I'm concerned this game comes under porn (as murder porn), inappropriate and offensive.

The game doesn't offend me, I just think it's a stupid fucking idea that will only end badly.

If anyone is actually looking forward to this game, regardless of shooting pixels and the lack of correlation between "anti-social behaviour" and violence in video games, they need to get their head checked.

While yeah, that kind of thinking is crazy, this isn't banning the game's existence.  Steam is still tied to Valve's reputation, thus Valve don't publish games that they don't want to represent them.  While Greenlight can set a sort of quality standard, Valve wouldn't let Greenlight speak for them.  It's easy to see the internet greenlighting a game called "hitler did nothing wrong" when greenlight is only based on up/downvotes.  Just look at some of the garbage reddit upvotes.

You could say the same thing about you forcing Steam to publish the game. Why are you making them publish something they don't want to publish? It's their platform, why are you trying to make the decision for them? Nobody is saying the game is against the law, they're saying they don't want to publish it. Big difference.
