Pericolos0 Posted September 29, 2014 Author Report Posted September 29, 2014 Here's another instance of windows ruining the fun. I get this annoying popup playing some games: which makes you lose focus on steam, takes you back to windows and totally fucks things up. good thing you can turn it off using this: http://superuser.com/questions/507308/permanent-fix-for-do-you-want-to-change-the-color-scheme-to-improve-performance In regedit go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsDWM (create if not already existent) Set a new DWORD UseMachineCheck with a value of 0. This will keep Windows from checking if your computer "performs slowly" and thus attempting to disable Aero. Still.. it shows just another reason why valve is doing the linux thing. There's just too many random windows issues that are out of their control, and you can't expect any mainstream users to edit their registry to get a smooth steam experience. Squad 1 Quote
El_Exodus Posted September 29, 2014 Report Posted September 29, 2014 This issue isn't happening with Windows 8 anymore. Pericolos0 1 Quote

Pericolos0 Posted October 19, 2014 Author Report Posted October 19, 2014 Very useful: http://steambanners.booru.org/index.php you can find banner icons for basically any game here to use with steam big picture. If you have a non-steam game installed, the banner will look crappy by default because it will just use the windows icon. You can find properly formatted banners for basically any game ever on this site. Also has banners for emulators and XBMC General Vivi, Thurnip and Squad 3 Quote
El_Exodus Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 When i want to start SBP only with my X360 Controller, Steam has to be the active window. Is there a way to start SBP without having it to be the active one? It's not that big of an issue, but it's not that comfortable to be honest. Quote
Puddy Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 I'm a bit tempted to go for a similar setup now. I have a PS4 but there's some games which I'd rather own on PC or are PC-exclusive. It's a huge plus to be able to choose whether you want a couch- or desktop experience. For example, I'm gonna get Shadow of Mordor sooner or later and I might actually want to switch between keyboard+mouse and gamepad. Pericolos0 1 Quote

Doesn't work as supposed for me It starts, but behind my active window. So i still have to use the Mouse/Keyboard to make SBP the active window Quote
Pericolos0 Posted October 19, 2014 Author Report Posted October 19, 2014 Oh that's really weird. Maybe it's some windows setting? Steam not allowed to get priority? Quote

Could potentially be a better setup than steam with xbox controllers . But it's all experimental so probably comes with some kinks that need to be sorted out. Quote
El_Exodus Posted October 19, 2014 Report Posted October 19, 2014 Oh that's really weird. Maybe it's some windows setting? Steam not allowed to get priority? Maybe it's because of Windows 8.1. Not sure though Which setting could it be? Quote

Pericolos0 Posted November 17, 2014 Author Report Posted November 17, 2014 You just made me trying SBP again I didn't like it earlier with my 2+1 monitor setup, because i had to change my display settings everytime i wanted to use it. But i'm cloning now my primary monitor via Windows 8 onto my TV so i don't have to change the settings everytime i want to use it. And i kinda like it that way. My setup is simple. I have my TV connected directly to my graphics card and then i simply start SBP with the Xbox 360 controller. I used to have a wireless keyboard+mouse kit, but either are they broken or the battery is empty They are perfect for these "special" issues when you might need something to type for example. There is also a keyboard with an integrated touchpad. I don't have one yet, but i think they are pretty good to hide in the couchtable Like this one: http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Keyboard-Multi-Touch-Touchpad/dp/B005DKZTMG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411867859&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+k400 I think i might use SBP more often now. These wireless keyboards are on sale on amazon right now. I got me a refurbished one for 18$. Too many situations where I want to use steam chat from my couch so I caved . Quote
