Sprony
Hello Mapcore, I have a friend who goes by the nick Fierox. I think he makes amazing models and animations. He's been working a long time on several Avatar scenes. I've been trying to convince him to join the Core and show his work here. However, he thinks that we will not be interested in his stuff. He thinks it will be better suited on Polycount. Needless to say, I disagree and hope you guys do to. I made a deal with him to post some of his work here in his own thread (since new members can't). If there's genuine interested he promised me to show us wireframes and discuss the development. Plus, we'll have a new talented member joining us. So, what do you think? Constructive criticism will be appreciated! Everything you see is made by him btw: This was something simple done for a Dutch contest: Deviantart gallery here. PogoP
Looks cool but to me it screams CG. The one of the two purple guys together looks like some kind of CG porn scene! But he obviously has potential, so I think he should definitely join up! dux and Sprony

Even from the porn industry
fierox
Haha thanks for inviting me Johnny. The stuff above is actually made to be used in animation. Was going for an easier type of quality then its in the movies. A bit more cartoony or like a TV series i guess. The images are just quick renders, fun to do for requests i get on deviantart (plus i still have plenty to learn on lightning and shading ). Its purely meant as an excercise and it has been a good one sofar, starting at modeling and working towards a finished clip. Cant skip any of the less fun parts that way. Most of the time is in animation, really want to try to get a believable interaction between two characters. Well that and walking and running, always hard to get right especially when characters look a bit realistic. Its still not perfect but i've learned quite a bit sofar and redid alot but i can keep redoing bits so i'm moving on a little. Right now im struggling with the hair and cloth. Easy to get right for a single frame or even a single motion but quite a pain getting it to behave properly in animation (and so slow..). After that i'll start on the environments and backgrounds, i'm pretty bad with that so it will be quite a challenge getting it done Below a few different frontal views of the bindpose. Baked the normal map from a high res version and exaggerated it so thats why it looks weird. I couldnt find another way to make it work with the bumpmap back then. Haven't made much maps and most were for DukeNukem3d After that i made meshes, characters and animations (mostly UnrealEd and good Maya plugins) for mods in the past but i havent done any of that for quite some time. Unfortunatly things always stranded halfway Didnt have much luck with group projects unfortunatly. knj
Same here, looks very cool needs some polish but it takes time to see what and where needs to be pushed up. but anyways you can see a talent there and he should join so we can explain to him how to improve his work TL:DR - nice ! PaulH
The Avatar models look cool, though it's not really my area to give feedback on. You should stick around here anyway, is always good to see a diverse range of work on the site
fierox
And here's another brakedown of the Jake figure. From left to right: Low poly wireframe, muscle system deformers (joints not showing), mesh, normal map, with shader, complete Squad
