After weeks of discussion it's time to actually start playing, haha! Though not as in a tournament just as in playing together for fun.

The time has come to prove who is the best, who deserves to rocket juggle the imaginary championship trophy - being the Mapcore Quake Champion 2014.

The competition will be played out in Quake Live. Currently no prizes at stake, but who knows what'll happen! (If you got any ideas, post here or send me a P.M)

VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION
It should be noted that the rules in this competition is to make sure we have fun and a decent competition at the same time. If you feel that your competitor should start picking map, even though the rules say otherwise, feel free to do it. Bend the rules as long as it is fair and square!

The competition is divided in two stages, FFA-Qualifier e and Single-Elimination stage.

FFA-Qualifier Stage
In this stage all contestants will be playing tree FFA-matches where points are amassed depending on what placing you get. The top eight players of the qualifier will go to the next stage.

• 1st place gives 5 points.
• 2st place gives 3 points.
• 3rd place gives 2 points
• 4th-8th place gives 1 points.

In case there are few contestents this stage may be dispensible as everyone will tie in for the Elimination but this will be played nonetheless, for fun and to get into the competitive mood!
 

Single-Elimination Stage
After the prior stage the semi-finals and finals will be played out in Duels, where the top 1st player will meet the 8th, 2nd the 7th and so on.
Three maps will be played where the player with most points picks the first map, randomize if even.

• If you lose a match, you're out.
• Finals are played off in best off five.

How is a match played?
Each match will be a best of three maps in the game mode Duel where one map takes 10 mins to play. A contestant will create a game and invite the other via their Friends list.
 

Game Setup

• Players take rounds in picking map. If you are even in points, randomize who will pick first.
• All weapons are on except BFG, in other words - no item farming.

How do you report results in the Single-Elimination?
Each player MUST post  here or in a PM to me with the match results, or at least both players need to make a post that verifies the results . In example:
 

 

Sjonsson vs SpronyJohnson, September 5th.

Map #1: SpronyJohnson won.

Map #2: Draw.
Map #3: Sjonsson won.

That said, do not post the amount of points you got. This will be done for you.

First off, I pinned this. Secondly, I was hoping for FFA because I suck at Duel

However, l'm down for anything. The above does seem too complicated, especially considering the different time zones. But let's hear what the others have to say first.

 

We used to have a competition every Sunday. We picked a time which was doable for everyone (some had to play in the morning, others in the afternoon, etc). Then we had a map selection and we played for an hour or so taking screens of the results after each match to determine the overall winner. Just a thought.

Haha, yeah I thought it would be a little too complicated. We could totally change it to whatever game mode, I just want a competition going matter what!

I guess if we want just to do a quick and simple tournament I think we should do it your way!

It is but it does look prettier and it's much easier to play with each other. You can't expect everyone to buy or reinstall vanilla, have someone setup a server, etc.
