Hi guys   So it's summertime for me. That means, I want to create 3 new maps! I'm creating this thread to keep account of these projects and because it should be a fun journey for all, like

OK! Here are the first screenshots of DE_SANTORINI.      For this level, I'm trying to purely map "tones", until I'm ready to add in actual textures. The tones allow me to control for contrast

Don't know why but it feels like the map doesn't looks as cold as it should, maybe it's because the sky is too bright, idk, but i'm pretty sure you could make it looks even more terrific if it felt colder.

I guess the sky isn't finished yet, because currently it's just an homogeneous blue. It should be whiter on the horizon.

Instead of this :

Plus some more fog could help but i doubt fmpone will consider it, players are strongly against it usualy.

How do you made those rocks, mountains and the icewall beside the submarine? Are they all models or displacements?

Models :)

Also, the idea would be that the sky will be darker than it is now, not that it's dark already.

That's nice thank you! It's nothing fancy, just careful observation of real ice caves, normals, cubemap, alpha. The sculpting and shapes being accurate is probably the big thing.
