dux Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 Ronaldos cross was fucking amazing. All credit to him for that. I think I'm one of the few people who actually likes him on the pitch haha. USA switched off in the last few minutes and gave the ball away, they knew Portugal was going to throw the kitchen sink at them to try and score and they did. If they didn't have Ronaldo though they'd be fucked. Dempsey and Ronaldo are both sides Talisman players. If only England could create one, lulz. -HP- 1 Quote
Izuno Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 So isn't Group G the only one where all 4 countries are technically still in it? 1) If USA and Germany tie, they both advance and Ghana and Portugal are eliminated 2) If either USA or Germany wins, that team advances but for the losing team, if Ghana and Portugal tie then both Ghana and Portugal are out and the loser of USA/Germany advances 3) If there is a winner in Ghana/Portugal and a winner in USA/Germany, then the winner of Ghana/Portugal only advances if their goal differential is greater than the loser of USA/Germany, right? 4) If #3 happens, then if Germany is the loser of its game then it would have to lose badly along with the winner of Ghana/Portugal winning by a big margin to overcome the current German +4 GD and overcome either the current -1 GD or Portugal's -4 GD. OR... Am I misunderstanding that if there is a tie for points they will go by the GD first, then by heads up who beat whom like in NFL or something? Regardless, futbol is quickly overtaking football as my favorite spectator sport. Minos, Mazy and -HP- 3 Quote
-HP- Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 From someome that never really liked or cared for futebol, the US vs PT match was nerve racking and entertaining, lmao. And yes, you're right. All teams are still technically able to pass. We'll never pass tho, specially if germany ties with US. PT is not what it used to be. Mazy 1 Quote
Mazy Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 I'm not the biggest football fan either, but for the first time I've been watching a lot of the matches with this WC and it's been really good entertainment, loads of goals~~ Quote
Sprony Posted June 23, 2014 Author Report Posted June 23, 2014 Oh damn, we're good. Who would have guessed? Nine points out of 3 matches! 10 goals! Humiliated the World Champions! You know what they say, as a finishing touch, God created the Dutch! Quote

If I'm not mistaken, Ghana advances if they win against Portugal (obviously) and if USA wins against Germany, but only if they have a better goal difference. This currently stands at -1 and 4 for Germany, so not a very likely scenario, but still technically possible. Portugal advances if they win against Ghana and if Germany wins against USA and if they have a better goal difference. It's at -4 and USA's is at 1, so also not very likely. Quote
Squad Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 This Belgium team received a ton of praise before the World Cup but so far it were two of the most boring matches I've seen. Today they didn't deserve to win either because Russia, especially in the second half, was much better. But hey, that's football. Still, I'm glad our southern neighbors have made it through to the next round. It gives them enough room to make good on all that praise True. I was expecting a lot more from this game, but we didn't deliver with good football. Congratz on the first place and nine points btw! Sprony 1 Quote
ZZZ Posted June 23, 2014 Report Posted June 23, 2014 So Brazil x Netherlands was avoided for now... Let's see if Ochoa can save the mexicans from Netherlands attacks. Sprony 1 Quote

Everything can happen, but realistically, GER won't slip, they just have to tie or win and they qualify to the next round, I don't see them losing against USA. USA is almost qualified as well but they need to be careful, GER won't be playing for the tie or they might risk losing the game, and GER is much stronger than USA, so it will be a though match for US. POR and GAN will probably be a even match, both teams need to win by a big margin to even have a chance of qualifying, so neither team will play defensively, so there will probably be lots of goals, which sucks for POR, but whatever. Nothing is decided but GER and USA are almost guaranteed to pass to the next round. And I just read some news that the world cup had more viewers than the NBA in the US. Glad you guys are finally enjoying the game Quote
