PogoP Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 (edited) Crytek trying their hand at a Moba? I imagine it's gonna look nice but play like shit! Bit of a weird mix of characters too. Norse mythology, children's fairy tales, famous engineers and err, Joan of Arc? Could be interesting. Can we play as Hitler? Edited May 22, 2014 by PogoP marks 1 Quote
DrywallDreams Posted May 22, 2014 Report Posted May 22, 2014 Fast-paced battles with fresh gameplay twistsWhen the action gets underway in the arena, you'll discover a fast-paced combat experience that is instantly accessible for newcomers but deep enough to captivate veteran campaigners too. With multiple ways to chalk up points across the battlefield, you and your friends will find yourselves in engrossing battles where every second counts, and everyone has a part to play in claiming victory. so, in other words, the same thing. How much do all these samey dota-like games make, anyway? So far, it seems that all this has going for it is "we have historical figures mixed with fairy tales". Who is this for? Quote

There are two, maybe three, successful DotA games and one of them is DotA. They both seem to host a trillion dollar tournament every year so that would suggest they're doing okay. This looks very by the numbers and the characters are so random. Even if you accept the premise that it's fantasy and historical figured plucked to fight, why does Red Riding Hood have a huge cleaver? Why is Robin Hood evil? Why is Fenrir related to fire? I'm confused. Quote
Erratic Posted May 23, 2014 Report Posted May 23, 2014 For a genre born from a mod that had zero context for its characters to be doing the stuff they do it's not surprising that all the derivatives blindly follow suit. It's a nice recipe to do as little world and character building as possible and just throw junk at the screen. Quote
