blackdog
Just read it. Sad, will always be grateful for creating Alien. But I have to confess I checked some other work of his in the past… and didn't like it at all :/ is it only me?

Pericolos0
A lot of his work is really dated looking now. It's hard to see his airbrushed paintings as anything but tacky today, however I can imagine it was pretty wild in the 70ies, before all the cultural aspects tied to his work that are now so common and done to death (biomechanical cyberpunk stuff, videogame scifi art etc). basically, bad airbrushed album cover art from the 80ies ruined Giger for most people . I've never been able to see his work as anything but tacky, but I'm able to place it in it's time and see it's merits. Alien still holds up today.. it's hard to believe sometimes that it's a movie from the 70ies, when you compare it to other stuff from the same period)

This stuff isn't meant to be "liked" dude. More like, admired, and keep whatever feelings it triggers, to yourself.
dux
A real shame. I hope he's at peace now, though. He always looked like a tortured soul, albeit it an inspirationally brilliant one. I'll treasure this picture that I have on my wall even more now. Edited May 13, 2014 by dux Sjonsson, -HP-, Sprony and 1 other
