Probably end up being a shoddy console port. The last UT was a real downer for me.

That's weird because they recently said they were not returning to their old franchises and were exclusively working on new IP's like Fortnite. This will probably be an HD make over, a mobile game or something similar.

Yiir~~really want this to be new proper UT, but it's probably just UT3 free in a browser or something like that :G

 

And yeah, I remember someone from Epic saying that they weren't working on anything Unreal related at the moment, but if they're being coy about it then they might have one of their studios working on it instead (People Can Fly/Epic Poland, Chair maybe).

I would prefer a game like UT 2004 which for me is still the best. I didn't like UT3.

The way the tweet reads... perhaps Epic is going to do something similar to Steam Workshop for UT. It makes business sense -- especially with the lower price point now for the engine. Capture the User generated content and micro-transactions with a portion going towards Epic while inspiring more people to subscribe to UE4 engine.

would love something like original UT, less focus on having a story and have it being believable, just go balls out with awesome locations, weapons and keep the visual style a bit cleaner.

The article mentions the dev community, so I'd speculate they're gonna build up the core game and make it easily expandable. Whether through steam or a proprietary platform will be interesting to be seen.

Maybe they're building something in-between Steam's Workshop and Unity's asset marketplace?

I want to make maps for this. Seriously, I hope they follow the standard formula of providing a strong mod community and really take advantage of UE4 capabiliti..... What I minute, this is likely going to be a free download off the UE4 market place isn't it?

 

Well regardless, the fast paced arena shooter market is suffering right now and it needs something new. And if something like this does come out in the near future I want to design something for it.

I seriously hope for some "next-gen" hardcore FPS game from this! Something that looks great but isn't cluttered with details.
