2d-chris Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 you've already made up your mind then Quote
Steppenwolf Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 I certainly don't feel like paying full price for it with what i've seen and heard from it. But i'm interested in hearing your opinion, what you like about it and how it compares, especially to the first one. Quote
PogoP Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Dux is the only one who can convince me to get this game at this point. I will trust his judgement. That sentence had never been uttered in the entire history of Mapcore, until now. dux, -HP-, Steppenwolf and 1 other 4 Quote
-HP- Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 I sense a disturbing lack of camel toes on this sequel Steppenwolf and 2d-chris 2 Quote
Steppenwolf Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Dux is the only one who can convince me to get this game at this point. I will trust his judgement. That sentence had never been uttered in the entire history of Mapcore, until now. I make this exception because i wasn't impressed with the first DA either initialy but Dux told me to keep playing and then i utterly enjoyed the game after forcing myself through the first part. dux Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 lol shut up Liam I might talk a lot of shit and hate on stuff from now and again but I have taste (shut up I do!) Anyway, I haven't bothered with this one yet as everything I have seen has been rather unconvincing to me. And my arsehole is still sore after Dragon Age 2. Nevertheless I will be buying this... probably next month when I have some time off and they've had a chance to patch it. I will say though, I watched TotalBiscuits port report and a few things made me go WTF. You have a horse. God knows why. And the top down combat management system I can say without a doubt is a load of wrinkly foreskins. The UI looks pretty awful as well. And bloody Origin. So I'll be going into it with a hefty dose of caution. Quote
AyzOn Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 I played Dragon Age 2 for like ~5hrs at all and I had enough of it. But I played Dragon Age Inquisition since the release whenever I had time to do so and Im now around 41+hrs and still enjoying it. I must admit though, that many sidequests are what you actually would expect from a MMO. But on the bright side you get a shit ton to do.^^ Quote
2d-chris Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 lol at the camel toes, true .... http://kotaku.com/psa-if-youre-playing-dragon-age-leave-the-hinterlands-1661855879 This is true, it was a big mistake to make this the starting zone IMO, it defo feels like an MMO, but this zone only, the others are a nice blend of scenery, little encounters, crafting materials and typical side quests that even dragon age origins had. The story missions are really cool, very creative so far and they remind me most of DAO The characters, although some do not hold up well, are very well fleshed out, I love some of the personalities. The combat, which IMO was pretty much perfect in DAO is not as good for sure, but it's passable, I feel the game on hardest difficulty would force me to use the rather flaky overhead camera. The effects are also overkill and distracting, to the point of not being able to read the battle, but at the same time the direction is more along the lines of a button basher with a more tactical depth than usual. They added a proper crafting system, but the itemization in general is not as a cool as DAO - but it's not bad - I'm only 30 hours in and I did a lot of fluff, so towards the middle of the game it might be better to judge this. The game is huge (not just a grind fest like you might of read incorrectly), beautiful, optimized, dynamic and alive. If you're a completionist, this game will drive you crazy, I'm not, I skipped most of the Hinterlands. It's not as good as DAO for sure, and I feel if they'd of stuck to their original formula it would of been a better game, but they didn't and I don't really care because after "only" 30 hours+ playing it I want to keep going, it;s getting better and better, Pampers, -HP- and Steppenwolf 3 Quote
Izuno Posted December 1, 2014 Report Posted December 1, 2014 So I loved Mass Effect 2 and 3...enjoyed Star Wars ToR (for 30 days then bailed) and the old KOTOR games. Should I go for this game? I'm more of a "shooter" gamer but I also enjoy open world beat-downs like Arkham City. Never touched a DA game before. Quote
2d-chris Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 Yeah this game has a shit ton of lore, and it's prob the best game, even though I think the new one has something really going for it. Quote
Izuno Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 DA:O $10 on steam...guess that answers that question. But can get DA:I for 25% off (PS4/Xbone/etc) on Amazon right now ("Cybermonday" deal)... Quote
dux Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 Ignore Inquisition for now and play Origins, you won't really do yourself and favours playing the 3rd in the series before the first. Quote
Izuno Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 Ignore Inquisition for now and play Origins, you won't really do yourself and favours playing the 3rd in the series before the first. Yeah came to that conclusion last night so gonna wait on DAI. Thanks all for the input. Quote
PaulH Posted December 2, 2014 Report Posted December 2, 2014 Let's say I did just jump straight to the new one and didn't play origins, would I still be able to follow what's going on enough to enjoy it? Fancy giving it a go but not wanting to play the others. Quote
