Dragon Age: Inquisition

Im totally excited about that game.

The graphics are looking awesome but everything looks a bit like plasticine(?).

The materials are looking wierd, but that might just be the graphic style of the game and could be on purpose.

It does look really cool, but yeah, those screenshots are heavily composed.

 

Which makes you wonder if there will be so much nice line arrangement ingame ? I know that assets made for screenshots usually don't look as good once you are ingame, like this nice savana dead tree, very hard to repeat.

 

At least it looks quite off lotr/warhammer, and that's nice for a change.

I dunno how to feel about that video. I looks beautiful, the art direction is lovely. The tactical overview for the 5 seconds he used it looked nice, and that was my problem really. It doesn't look like you really need it and it still seems like a button mash like DA2

It looks epic story/art wise. But yea i hope tactical can be played like in DA:O. That action combat looks so wrong to me.

Not feeling the characters either. I want awesome female characters like Morrigan instead of that horned abomination (thanks Anita!).

UI also looks bad, almost like placeholder.

Never played a dragon age game also, but looking for my next fix along the lines of Skyrim - can anyone tell me if this is similar? Is it likely to be anywhere near as good? I read middling reviews of the previous games in the franchise.

Checkout dragon age origins - if they claim it's closer to that then it could be awesome - not getting good vibes from the combat here though - the rest looks good ofc

 

As for a comparison with Skyrim, hmm, all I know is I played over 300 hours of both

Nope. I didn't actually watch the gameplay video before posting my previous comment, but having flicked through it now it doesn't look like the Skyrim replacement I was after. Too many cutscenes I guess (plus pretty bad voice acting?) and the combat doesn't appeal. Cheers though

It's not really comparable to Skyrim gameplay wise. In DA you have a party instead of just one char. Don't judge gameplay by the video tho. They play the "action" game style in the PR videos which is silly button mashing like Diablo. Imo the proper way to play and enjoy this is the tactical style tho which is a lot of fun. In this style you pause the combat every 1-2 seconds and micro manage the attacks and spells of your party. Doersn't get more proper RPG then that. Also in Baldurs Gate and DA:O the story was really really good with lots of twists and whatnot. Think of the Assasins Guild plot in Oblivion to get the idea. If Da 3 can replicate that it's gonna kick ass.

I will wait for dux's testimony before i touch this game. Feels like no day goes by that i don't see or hear something about it that rubs me the wrong way. I was hoping they learned their lesson from DA 2 but to me it seems while they fixed some of their mistakes they made a bunch of new ones with the direction they have taken.

I'm not sure where you heard that, it's been getting lots of praise. I love it - and I'm a huge critic of dragon age 2 lol

Everything i see and hear from this game is awful, except for the environments and world size. The characters are butt ugly, writing and voice acting terrible, 80% of quests are collect 12 of this and 10 of that from what i've heard. PC controls and tactical view broken apparently. I know it's getting lots of good review scores but when you listen careful to player impressions and watch some youtube clips a different picture emerges. Then you have sites like Polygon giving out extra points for their social political agenda it seems.

Dux is the only one who can convince me to get this game at this point. I will trust his judgement.
