Steppenwolf Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 So after years of refusal i have finaly upgraded to a smartphone last week. Are there any games that don't suck ass? I was looking through the app store and the games section is a cesspool of the highest order. Any games you can recommend? (flappy bird clones not appreciated) Sentura 1 Quote
-HP- Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Oh man.. you decided to switch in some really weird times. 99% of all the shit you see in the store is 'trashware' Google for "best iphone games 2013" and check the results, change the number of the year and check the results again. Little hint? Turn based games on handhelds are the best! Or games like tower defense. Either that or simple games where you pretty much just use one finger, or tap. (Like angry birds). Anything else more complex or that requires twitchy reactions and multiple imputs, will just take you back to the shitty thought "I wish I had a fucking game controller to play this" have fun dude AlexM and Skjalg 2 Quote

r1ar Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) Steppenwolf Clash of clans and new game by Ubisoft, Trials Frontier! But you should play on a tablet, for better experience. Edited April 17, 2014 by r1ar Quote
AlexM Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 The only 2 games that have held my attention on mobile was Ridiculous Fishing (great for about 2 hours) and Kingdom Rush. I really want to try Yearwalk but it's on a cot dang apple device. I'm waiting on the android version, I would say yearwalk is probably the only non-tacticle mobile game I'm truly interested in. Thrik Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Fruit Ninja and Cut the Rope are still pretty much the only mobile games I can actually recommend. Quote
Pampers Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 just get 2048 for phones and you'll never have to get another game again takes too much effort to swipe every move on mobile :s I mostly play candy crush while doing log work at the porcelain throne, no shame. Quote
Minos Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 Best source to find hidden gems http://toucharcade.com/ Just expect the best IOS games to be half as good as an average DS game gameplay wise and you will be able to enjoy them. As for games, Puzzle & Dragons is pretty cool, it mixes puzzles and... pokemon. I hate how you can only play a few times a day though so I never invested any energy on it. And there's also a Sim City 3k port that is actually pretty descent Quote
blackdog Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) You bought the phone at the right time… all these companion apps for AAA games are coming out Edited April 18, 2014 by blackdog Quote
Steppenwolf Posted April 17, 2014 Author Report Posted April 17, 2014 Android. The game Sentura recommended is nice. Gonna check out some of the others tomorrow. Sentura 1 Quote
blackdog Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 (edited) EA's revamp of Tetris is cool. In the past I played Flight Control loads. I like brainteasers like Letterpress and Quiz Up. Hellsing's Fire was nice puzzle as well; Cut The Rope has even way too much content in the category. Supermegaworm is a good action as well as Dark Nebula with tilt controls. Ski Safari. Check the games by Simogo. Oh and Superbrothers Swords & Sorcery they tell me it's an incredible adventure. Can't remember what's exclusive. Edited April 18, 2014 by blackdog Quote
Mazy Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Already a bunch of good ones mentioned here (Cut the Rope, Ridiculous Fishing, Threes/2048) Other good ones are Drop7, Organ Trail, Game Dev Story, Dead Ahead, Monsters, mostly because they're good for short sessions but can be played for hours if you really want to (especially Drop7, be-fuckin-ware of that one). Also Hero Academy is amazing if you can find some friends to play with, played that for over a year every day at one point. Year Walk (the first Simogo game) is also great, but I'd rather play that on a tablet than a smartphone. Quote
ShockaPop Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 Games I have on my iPad Mini and iPhone 5S: *Tank of Tanks (simple, but great local-multiplayer game) *Clash of Clans (nice game to play on occasional breaks here and there) *Smash hit (really chill game where you break glass surfaces with balls of steel) *Flappy Bird/Juggling/Shuriken (pretty cool games for real fast session) *Flapthulhu (nicer version of Flappy Bird) *Supernauts *King Hunt (simple Cut the rope kind of game with really nice visuals and stuff) *Rock Runners (nice platformer game) *Into the Dead (zombie game where you just run through various rural areas avoiding contact with zombies) *Oceanhorn (very Zelda like game) *Robot Unicorn Attack 2 (pretty cool platformer) *Dungeon Story (very simple yet fun "match three" game) *Wordament (simple word-game) *Plague Inc. (very cool game about creating disease to wipe out human race from the face of Earth) *Hill Climb Racing (fun and simple "car game" with tons of tracks and vehicles) *Boom Beach (similar to Clash of Clans, but still very different) *Tetris (yes, Tetris) Quote
