Thrik Posted April 17, 2014 Report Posted April 17, 2014 I have a pretty vast collection of electronica that I listen to while working, much of which lacks vocals but even the ones with vocals are pretty fine for working IMO. I've posted a lot of it in the random music thread over the years, but here are some from today's playlist (go ahead and explore the artists further if you like): Quote

AlexM Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 I've been programming like a madman to this dude the last few days. Calm and a decent tempo for the beat. Def gets me into the work zone. Skjalg 1 Quote
Skjalg Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 As a programmer I cant listen to any podcasts or any music with easy to hear lyrics in them as it spaces me out. One example is that I might be starting a new story/task "create and implement the new chest drop that should be in zone a and k" I fire up visual studio to write some code. I search for things to do with "drop" or "item" to find something relevant. I remember items drop in the game, so I look at how the item drop code is done so that I can implement the chest drop in a similar fashion. I discover a nice class that seems to handle all the drop code, its called "DropManager". I read that class to understand it, check where it is used, oh its used in the input code that deals with touch and mouse events and HOLY DIVER You've been down to long in the midnight sea, Oh whats becoming of meeee.. Ride the tiger. You can see his stripes but you know he's clean Fuck where was I. Okay, look at the item drop code.. DropManager? Sentura, AlexM and selmitto 3 Quote
Sentura Posted April 18, 2014 Report Posted April 18, 2014 lmao Skjalg, spot on for programming. Design work is much easier to get in the zone with music and podcasts and shit. I used to watch TV series as well, sometimes it's great inspiration. marks 1 Quote

DaanO Posted April 30, 2014 Report Posted April 30, 2014 All of the Booker T albums. There's no singing but it is great music: no distraction, but it does keep you going. Five stars. Quote
