Seldoon182 Posted April 5, 2014 Report Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) Hi there, I just acquired an iPhone 5s and I'm stuck with Orange. I would rather to unlock my device but compared to the whole search I've done on Google and Duckduckgo it seems there is no viable solution to unlock the phone. I've been used to jailbreak and unlock my iPhone (first gen) & my 3Gs with ease but nowadays I feel the internet full of scams! I've read you can downgrade your baseband with an iPad one to unlock your device: I'm pretty sure this work on iPhone 3Gs but I'm not confidence this work on iPhone 5s. I was wondering if some Mapcorians already faced this issues if they found solution with Evasi0n and / or Redsnow jailbreak to unlock this damn iPhone!? So what you think? Help would be really appreciate. Thanks guys. Edited April 5, 2014 by Seldoon182 Quote

blackdog Posted April 6, 2014 Report Posted April 6, 2014 In UK phone companies are legally bind to unlock phones when asked to do so. There might be some time constraints, but they do it for free or ~10£. Google "GiffGaff unlocking guide" and you should find a lot of tips and reviews on the reliability of the services. Hope this helps even if you live somewhere else. Otherwise in big cities there should be several smartphone repair shops that usually also unlock. Quote
Seldoon182 Posted April 7, 2014 Author Report Posted April 7, 2014 (edited) Unfortunately they don't support the iPhone 5s and they have no tips about unlocking an iPhone 5 for free. But thanks for the advice Blackdog ! My iPhone 5s is new and I don't want to wait for the 3 mouth and also paid for this. I won't feed this crappy business. Edited April 7, 2014 by Seldoon182 Quote
blackdog Posted April 7, 2014 Report Posted April 7, 2014 The one I bought was brand new, unwrapped by the original owner only to unlock it. The phone was bought via contract with Vodafone and he had them unlock it on day one, then put it on eBay. Dunno how long he waited, but no more than days. Quote
Seldoon182 Posted April 7, 2014 Author Report Posted April 7, 2014 With Orange you have to wait over 3 mouths in order to unlock your mobile. But this is the factory method with IMEI. What i'm asking is the software method. I heard you can downgrade your baseband (software side and free) but never done that before. ^^ Quote
blackdog Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 (edited) Yeah I know what you mean; never done that as this is my first smartphone. I'm not much into that stuff anyway, you know, you don't want to brick it. Usually is a matter of waiting for the updated unlocker tool from the experts. You could try to call them and fake you already asked for the unlock… friend of mine unlocked recently a 3 phone by calling them a couple of times, second time he said he was directed through an Albanian call center and literally dictated to the operator what to do following an internet guide May I ask why you want to unlock it if you are under a contract? Or you bought it used like I did? Cos when I was looking for used-but-new I only checked phones locked to the operator I was using or to the one I wanted to switch, so even if I had to wait it wasn't a problem. ESToomere Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 I think EverythingApplePro over at YouTube started a unlocking service, I think it was on the cheap-side as well depending on the popularity of the carrier. No idea if he supports 5s or not but last I checked he had a 3+ months waiting list. I myself had to switch providers because only one company brings Apple into Estonia and they made everybody their bitch over Christmas. Quote

I'll give a try If I fail with Redsnow. ^^ If this work man I'd buy you a beer or something for sure! Never think about to fake a call. Ah ah genius ! I personally grew to hate jailbreaking, it was only useful if something broke or, indeed, I was locked onto a Belgian carrier. Quote
