I am huge puyo fan but i dont see myself playing this it doesn't feel juicy at all:

-missing sound

-movement is jerky

-need to hold down for way too long to make em drop

-gfx lack personality.

i want a proper competitive online puyo game though !

It is still, missing sound yes.  It is also intended for a mobile device so holding the button down wont be a problem.  You slide to move, drop and rotate ccw, or tap to rotate cw.

As for the gfx lacking personality.  I left the eyes looking at each other out; I didn't want to clone it, so much as use the mechanic.  When coming from things with eyes (dripping with personality), things without eyes will automatically seem like they have less.  I guess I wasn't exactly going for 'juicy'.

Thanks for the critique!

Well, I can't claim to have played much Super Puzzle Fighter.  I could google it I suppose, but I'm pretty sure that is the one where every time you clear pieces your character (Street Fighter characters I think, I'm pretty sure I saw my brother playing it once or twice) attacks his opponent, and when your opponent dies you win.  To copy Super Puzzle Fighter I would probably have had to copy that as well.  I am pretty sure Kirby's Avalanche for SNES (which I did play and enjoy) and Puyo Puyo came before Super Puzzle Fighter and that it was copying one or both of those, if in fact the mechanic is the same.  I have never played Puyo Puyo, but it appears to be the exact same game as Kirby's Avalanche, but by Sega and sans Kirby.  As I mentioned in the title it is a Puyo Puyo style puzzler, meaning I copied the general mechanic, not the game.  Thanks for playing.

Ok, so I googled it.  No this game is actually not all that similar to Super Puzzle Fighter.  The only thing in common is that pieces fall in two's and the pieces all fall (they don't hang in the air).  The matching mechanic is different, and the end conditions are different.  You should really play Kirby's Avalanche.

Chek this out:

My mechanic is very similar to that.

Super Puzzle Fighter requires a special piece to break them, in Neon and others you only need to match four in any configuration (it doesn't need to be a line).  The skill comes from setting up combos, and in Neon that is the whole point.  If you get one match or a combo, it speeds up the same amount.  So if you aren't taking the time to set up big combos while it is slow, you wont get as many points.  Once it gets fast it is all you can do to put it on the same colour.  Any way, thanks for playing.

Tried it yesterday, good to have a test run online. The mechanic is similar to other known games with just a bit different gameplay (I had never played puyo before). Yeah controls are jerky, but if on touchscreen it works well as Tetris, it's perfect.

Personally I wouldn't buy something like this though, kind of game you get free and ad supported.

Are you sprucing up the menu?

Puyo Puyo predates Puzzle Fighter by at least half a decade and the chain and junk tile rules are significantly different.

From a mechanics point of view I think the bigger grid, at least in the single player mode, is kind of a negative so long as drop speed is tied into cancels. Puyo Puyo is ridiculously easy to chain (in competitive matches there are usually only 1-3 in the whole thing!) and I find putting junk blocks where you want can actually increase chain potential... But maybe this is cool, start the game and construct the world’s largest chain with no pressure, then die as it’s maximum speed.
