Using GCFScape v1.8.5 which doesn't quite seem to work with the latest version of CS:GO at the time of writing this post. Also tried using vpk.exe provided in CS:GO tools and that doesn't work either in listing directory files.

Tried Google for couple hours last night and filtering through the Steam forum with no success.

I want to get a hold of stock vscripts for syntax / setup reference and script completely new game modes for CS:GO -- didn't really come across any tutorials for this either except changing some ConVars to modify stock game modes.

Is it not possible at all to create a new game mode from scratch and play it on CS:GO?

I know someone created Capture the Flag, but as far as I understood they did that within the level script in Hammer and are now porting it to vscript (and having road blocking issues last I read). But that's all I've found so far.

Thanks in advance.

Edit: More about what I'm attempting to do: Want to create a custom game mode that can run on top of any map (under the assumption any necesary assets are loaded in the map already) rather than have people place prefabs in maps.

What exactly is not working?

I had some troubles with GCFscape not able to access CSGO's vpk files, installing the latest version of GCFscape fixed that though. But you're using the latest version, so it's not that.

Did you install the latest .NET framework (3.5) as well?

Not seeing any folders or files under "Root" folder in GCFscape, tried several VPKs.

Edit: Ah I just caught my mistake, I need to open the "dir" VPK. The Titanfall VPK Viewer doesn't let you open non-"dir" VPKs so I didn't catch myself.

I've now opened pak01_dir.vpk but don't see any vscripts -- the stock game modes like Hostage Rescue / S&D / Gun Game are done through Hammer entities I take it?
