Arkham Knight is going digital only! :o

Hello,

You may have heard that Warner Bros, the publisher of the title "Batman: Arkham Knight" decided to release this game in digital only format.

We wanted to reassure you, as you've pre-ordered Batman: Arkham Knight (PC DVD) in 204-0620052-1490768, we'll still be able to send you the the physical PC game, as Warner Bros have agreed to publish enough physical products to fulfil orders placed up to 30 March 2015.

As the format was restricted to digital only on the 30 March 2015, we can no longer accept any further orders for the physical game.

We hope to see you again soon.

So Season Pass has been described and now priced.

The big thing seems to be able to play as Batgirl in a prequel SP story

Rocksteady's Sefton Hill has revealed the identity of Batgirl, who will get an additional SP campaign -- beware of spoilers http://uk.ign.com/articles/2015/05/07/arkham-knight-batgirls-identity-officially-revealed

"Other key details for the season pass include playing as Batman in new story missions, featuring “legendary super-villains invading Gotham City,” as well as more story missions for Batman’s supporting cast.

Players will also be able to drive various Batmobiles from the Dark Knight’s 75-year history on custom race tracks. Lastly, expect new challenge maps and a variety of character skins as is tradition for the series.

the Season Pass will run £32.99 / $39.99, or it will be available in the Premium Edition of the game for £87.98 / $99 on PS4 and Xbox One. The Season Pass will provide six months worth of DLC content."

Another Arkham Insider video, with a better look at the dual play feature

I hope the build shown here is a bit old, because the transition between animations on display seem quite jaggy.

This remaster bullshit has got to stop!

btw, why are people so bothered by "remasters" or "hd rereleases"? I'm just curious.... why would you be annoyed by seeing an old(er) game being released on a more recent console? I'm really struggling to find a rationale or logic for that.

For me, two simple reasons:

  • A remaster has got to make sense. Look at the Resident Evil remaster earlier this year. Great update to a classic. Huge difference. I'm all for that. Now take the God of War 3 remaster. That game looked so good on the PS3. They can only slightly improve on that. What's the point?
  • Volume. This is becoming remake gen. I want original IP's. I want new games. I don't want remasters, definitive editions or whatever from games that are a couple of years old dammit. Everybody's just cashing in at this point.

So yeah, I love me a proper remake/remaster. But do it properly for really old titles like what they did to Homeworld. Don't throw in some higher res textures with some DLC and call it a remaster.

The annoying thing is the price that is normally too steep for a very basic port.

The remaster invasion is due to the new consoles*, lot of good titles at the end of generation that wouldn't work on the new one. Also think lot of people waited buying stuff (eg GTA5) knowing it would come upgraded.

*especially for PS devs have to change the whole engine architecture right?

Seeing the Batman deal on Steam, I was just thinking that I wouldn't mind at all a remaster -the previous games made with the new engine- I'm tempted to buy the old ones just because I've limited access to the Xbox and Batman it's all I want to play atm.

Holding off of course, but if they will remaster for real, well, playing with boosted graphics might be something I'll want to spend a few coins on.

No man, that was with the PS3. Even Carmack said it was more difficult to program for. The PS4 is specifically designed to make it more compatible with PC architecture. Hence the enormous indie influx!
