blackdog Posted March 27, 2014 Author Report Posted March 27, 2014 My impression or these shots are a tad more crispy than the last ones I posted, which it was said were PS4? I wonder if this is PC with hardware anti aliasing or beautified shots. Quote
-HP- Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Those are obviously "staged" screenshots, or promotional screenshots if you wanna call it. But still... it looks absolutely jaw dropping, from lighting to materials, to the art execution. I'm getting the vibe from that infiltrator demo Epic did too, probably sorta the same tech. Quote
blackdog Posted March 28, 2014 Author Report Posted March 28, 2014 You mean like a 3D still, created just for promo, enabling the artists to use more polys? Quote
-HP- Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 no, all these assets are from the game, i'm almost certain of it, they wouldn't waste resources and time making complex models just for screenshots. I mean the carefully way they present it and render the image... Quote
blackdog Posted March 28, 2014 Author Report Posted March 28, 2014 I don't work in a game studio my friend, i'm sure i get what you mean but i'm curious to know in more detail to what extent these practices get Quote
Chimeray Posted March 28, 2014 Report Posted March 28, 2014 (edited) no, all these assets are from the game, i'm almost certain of it, they wouldn't waste resources and time making complex models just for screenshots. I mean the carefully way they present it and render the image... Except for the Dark Knight render? It seems reasonable that it would just be a high poly render, the detail would be ridiculous otherwise! It's not that those other shots of the Dark Knight are bad but it seems to have less detail. I agree with those other shots though, definitely seems to be ingame albeit promotional stuff... Drooool Edited March 28, 2014 by Chimeray Quote
blackdog Posted March 28, 2014 Author Report Posted March 28, 2014 Yeah, the Arkham Knight is definitely a render, the other I believe it's in-engine, just curious if it's also in-game. Quote
e-freak Posted March 31, 2014 Report Posted March 31, 2014 why would it be a render? maybe i'm spoiled by our games, but that stuff can definitely be done in engine Quote
blackdog Posted March 31, 2014 Author Report Posted March 31, 2014 Well, seems too beautiful to be true*... but yeah, the character gallery is a staple of the franchise so it might well be in-engine as there's only the model to be rendered. Main thought was "it's not in-game" though *Mmh material from Ryse has always been impressive, but I don't remember anything this crispy (as I said, my main concern is: how unaltered these shots are?) I'm wondering if they are using the latest UnrealEngine or something like UE3.5? but no matter which version they are using, still looks pretty amazing. Also, it's pretty safe to say that this shot is altered http://nl.images.multiplayer.it/thumbs/images/2014/03/26/arkhamknight_render_jpg_1400x0_q85.jpg Quote

blackdog Posted April 1, 2014 Author Report Posted April 1, 2014 It was told in the Gameinformer unveil article that they use a spruced up UE3(.5) Quote
