Minos Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Anyone else playing this game? I'm having a blast, this is the city builder that I've been looking for. It's easy to get into but building a large city and dealing with crisis along the way can get pretty challenging. Definitely recommended if you like that sort of games IGN review: FMPONE, kikette, KoKo5oVaR and 7 others 10 Quote
cincinnati Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 sim mixed with rts without the war-machine mechanic? sounds like a lot of fun. Quote
Sjonsson Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Had a guy here at the office playing it all lunch, snow never wanted me to play a game as much since the first SSX game for PS2! Looks super cozy! (and fun) Quote
Mazy Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Aye good stuff, I followed your advice and started over on Hard difficulty and it's already a lot more fun, starting with nothing and having to build your way up. Quote
PogoP Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Ya I've been playing it a lot, started on hard... Doesn't seem that difficult really, once you get a good source of food sorted, you're pretty much on easy mode. What is there to do later? Quote
Vilham Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Unfortunately it isn't like anno or caesar, its pretty shallow tbh, zero meta game other than survive. My town at home has reached 150 people but all I'm really doing is expanding. Quote
FrieChamp Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 (...) but kids are useless. They only eat, they don't work. Such realism! Quote
Rick_D Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 20 bucks, sunk over a dozen hours into it, compare that to "AAA" and the lack of combat or "end game" is pretty much irrelevant to me Quote
Beck Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 I have always wanted a city builder where I just build a city without the combat. May have to check this out! Quote
Vilham Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 (edited) 20 bucks, sunk over a dozen hours into it, compare that to "AAA" and the lack of combat or "end game" is pretty much irrelevant to me Just buy caesar/pharoah on GoG you will get far more time with a better sim game at only $5. I have always wanted a city builder where I just build a city without the combat. May have to check this out! I can recommend this game, Tropico, Anno or caesar/pharoah if you want that. PogoP Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 Don't get me wrong, I am really enjoying it. It's a lovely little game. I just wish there was more to do further down the line, that's all. It still has a great deal of potential Quote

I played Tropico and it was too complicated and the mechanics were often confusing and hidden. I don't necessarily want that level of depth, i want a cozy as fuck game that makes you feel like you accomplished something. Quote

Yeah I played Tropico quite a bit and I found it way too easy and half the time I didn't even have any idea the effect I was having on my citizens. Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 What worries me a bit is the repetitiveness, maybe the guy will add more stuff ? i mean in pharaoh for example, you had scenarios where the resources were limited, the setting for arable grounds, rivers, cliffs etc weren't the same, and you had objectives for the scenario like growing a city of 3000 people, sell a certain quantity of manufactured products, or build motherfucking pyramids. Cause it's fun to learn the mechanics of a city builder, but once you know them it's like playing an FPS on the same map over and over, it's gets pretty repetitive if you don't have any scenarios to adapt your knowledge to. Still that's looks super good and i will buy it anyway PogoP 1 Quote
