Skjalg Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) Hey guys. Its that time of the year again where I release an iOS game This time I joined development at the halfway point about 6 months ago, and we finally ended up soft launching in New Zealand and Norway in early February and now its finally time to release to the world. Link To iTunes Store Page As you can see from the video, the game is similar to a certain planting game. But to be honest (in my perfectly unbiased opinion of course), its not any more similar than call of duty is to Wolfenstein 3D. Its free to play and very easy on the evil monetization scheme, so don't worry, I promise you wont feel cheated out of your hard earned bucks if you end up deciding to purchase something in the app Edited February 26, 2014 by Skjalg Sjonsson, ⌐■_■, Em' and 2 others 5 Quote

Warby Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 yeah to be honest i don't even play plants vs zombies and thats like the king of its respective genre right ?! Quote
PogoP Posted February 27, 2014 Report Posted February 27, 2014 I don't mean to sound harsh to you guys that worked on it, but it does look like a copy of PVZ, from the name, down to the art style, and even down to the gameplay from the looks of it. Not decrying the quality of the game, that's just my observation from watching that video. Skjalg 1 Quote
Skjalg Posted February 27, 2014 Author Report Posted February 27, 2014 (edited) Indeed it is, but like any decent clone it has some originality to it. We've introduced moving units, spells, boss fights and a really long campaign with two difficulties. The final boss fight also triggers ragnarok which melts away tiles (they turn to lava) which in turn makes for some interesting strategies. Some of these features PvZ2 also introduced when we were about 1 month away from release which was kind of demoralizing but in the end pvz2 was a huge failure in our eyes because they were too hard on the monetization bit. Trolls you can play and complete without spending any money. We actually wanted more to pay homage to PvZ (hence the name and the game the way it is), but I can totally see that we probably cut it a little too close to the original.
