I dont get it.  Wasnt Bioshock infinite both a critical and financial success? WTF?

Shooter of the year if nothing else.

 

 

As always, the situation is way more complex than "it was successful, therefor..."

Impossible to market, scary to publishers. Remember that tiff about the cover? I bet stuff like that pissed 2K right the hell off. "We're trying our best here, Levine"

We were three, all laid off in the first round of economic layoffs that happened in September last year. Patrick_H is no longer on Mapcore I think, vivi, and myself. All level designers.

As for talking about what happened, we can't so don't ask

I am still around. I don't post much anymore though- too busy crunching and getting layed off.

I am working with Hourences on a top secret project these days.

This rampant speculation over Irrational drives me nuts, but because devs are constantly signing gag orders when departing a company the Man gets to control the narrative.

In my experience, if you get a full time position in the industry, there is a good chance that your experience will be no different than a contractor- you just won't see the end coming.

Their iteration process where ideas just come and go took them to a disaster. There's always a point with no return when the budget is too high and the game have to be shipped NOW and cancel/layoffs is not an option but it went way to far at IG. 5 years man, 5 years! Did they work without a vision and story?!
