Irrational Games shuts down

Irrational Games, the studio that makes BioShock, is shutting down.

Studio lead Ken Levine announced the news on the Irrational Games website today, noting that he'll be starting "a smaller, more entrepreneurial endeavor at Take-Two" and laying off all but 15 people.

Sad. I didn't really enjoy Bioshock Infinite but, damn, irrational made some crazy good games. System Shock 2 with the legendary Looking Glass, SWAT 4, which is still as of today the best tactical shooter ever made, and of course their most famous game, Bioshock.

I can't help but to think that there is an underlying reason why they are shutting down that isn't presented. I haven't heard of many studios shutting down like this when they're so successful, they were such a great studio! :<

There has to be some 2k involvement here, how he has spun this is incredibly bad for him. It makes him look like a huge selfish asshole (maybe the case, but I suspect something else is going on here).
