Stiffy360 Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 Hello, my friend Mr. Chop made a large sum of skybox textures for use in the Source Engine. Since he is rather lazy, and didn't bother re-uploading his pack since I last downloaded it, I uploaded it to my dropbox with his permission to share with you all. Here are a few sample skyboxes. These are completely free, and Mr. Chop/Colter is completely fine with you sticking it in an operation map. 8:43 PM - Stiffy360: are these copyright free? 8:44 PM - Stiffy360: so if I like made a map that got into a CS:GO operation 8:44 PM - Stiffy360: could I make money off of these? 8:44 PM - Stiffy360: and give you a cut ofc 8:45 PM - Colter: you're fine, they're free 8:45 PM - Colter: just credit me somewhere Anyways here is the download (96mb) Enjoy! Please forgive me if this is in the wrong section, FMPONE suggested I share with you all as well, so if this needs to be moved please let me know. Also let me know if the download link goes down as well and I will do my best to maintain it. Have fun! esspho, dux, kikette and 21 others 24 Quote
FMPONE Posted February 14, 2014 Report Posted February 14, 2014 Thank you for posting these here Quote
Squad Posted February 15, 2014 Report Posted February 15, 2014 You don't come across a lot of decent skyboxes often, so it's always nice to have more to choose from Thanks! Quote
Stiffy360 Posted February 15, 2014 Author Report Posted February 15, 2014 No problem, I'm just sharing my friend's work. Give all credit to him as he made the skyboxes. Quote
The Horse Strangler Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 Those are some killer skies. Nice job. You guys should make some skydome variations too. You might find those easier to paint as well. Quote
Pampers Posted February 16, 2014 Report Posted February 16, 2014 something in another format than .vtf would have been great thanks anyway Quote
Stiffy360 Posted February 16, 2014 Author Report Posted February 16, 2014 I can convert them all into tgas and 2D panoramas if you guys want. (as well as a model for it) Would take some time though. dkm, Pampers and The Horse Strangler 3 Quote
The Horse Strangler Posted February 17, 2014 Report Posted February 17, 2014 (edited) Yeah it would be nice to have the uncompressed tga's. Edited February 17, 2014 by MrTwoVideoCards Quote
spence Posted March 27, 2014 Report Posted March 27, 2014 Bit of a bump but does anyone know if the CS:GO specification for HDR skies changed at all? I've been playing around with all of these and some of them work as HDR just fine while others just show the compressed HDR texture as it appears in the preview/when decompiled to tga (all pixelated, etc). I tried a bunch of tests and examined the VMTs between the skies that worked correctly, the ones that didn't, and the HDR skies that come with CSGO and they are all identical from what I could tell, so the only conclusion I could draw is that something changed in the VTF specification along the way? It's strange, because some of them from the pack appear to work correctly (sky_reddusk01 as an example) but only when their LDR equivalent is loaded. The same goes for the stock skies; loading the HDR equivalent displays the compressed HDR texture while loading the one without the HDR extension applies the bloom effect to the sky. This is good to know though, cheers. If you have the uncompressed versions of the skies it would be a huge asset, because some of the LDR ones were shrunk down to save texture memory and are very pixelated (~256px for example) while their HDR equivalents are full 1024px. If you need hosting for this let me know, I've got tons of space! Edited April 1, 2014 by spence Quote
Stiffy360 Posted April 30, 2014 Author Report Posted April 30, 2014 wow extremely late, but CS:GO effectively broke the sky shader so HDR skies no longer work. You must use the LDR sky with unlitgeneric to use in CS:GO Quote
