Steppenwolf Posted January 28, 2014 Report Posted January 28, 2014 So i'm gonna dump some of my 2D stuff in this thread. I don't have much experience with digital painting yet. Around 10 years ago i took some art classes once a week but that's my whole art background. I started getting into digital painting sometime october/november last year because i was really pissed at my art skills. Couldn't draw a straight line to use this overused phrase. It was a problem for me that i never started to feel comfortable with the wacom. Maybe you know that problem as a 3D artist you spent days or a week or two in 3D application then only a day in photoshop. Digital painting i figured is a good way to keep the practice level high and would help me with texturing and also with sculpting in the eventualy. And so far has worked out pretty great. I'm still a noob pretty much but even after such short time i see progress when i compare with my very first tries. Lot of them are works i did for the Daily Spitpaint Facebook group: AlexM, Puddy, kikette and 4 others 7 Quote

Steppenwolf Posted January 28, 2014 Author Report Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) I dig the colors the most, very good colors actually. Rich Thx man. I try to be bold with colors. Back in the days i painted lots of dark and depressive stuff. I also watched a video of some guy demonstrating that with brave coloring you can make even a lame picture interesting. That has influenced me. Cool dude, you can definitely see a progression throughout those images! Keep up the hard work. They are not in perfect chronological order. I didn't start completely from scratch tho. Obviously working in games, making 3D art, texturing props regularely etc. gives a bit of a headstart. I still have a long way to go learning to paint some more complex stuff tho like characters and concepts for hard surface. Also want to learn how to paint in this stereotypical cartoony video game style like wow etc. Edited January 28, 2014 by Steppenwolf Quote

Steppenwolf Posted February 17, 2014 Author Report Posted February 17, 2014 Some new paintings. I should really try to paint more people/characters but it's hard because it never was a subject matter that interested me much. At least i'm getting better at landscapes/skies. That's a start. Can try to go more to architecture and tech stuff from there which is job related. KoKo5oVaR, FMPONE, RedYager and 2 others 5 Quote
