Campaignjunkie
WITLESS PRATTLE: I'm not too satisfied nor disappointed with how my competition entry turned out. The result is an incredibly bitter yet somewhat creamy chocolate nougat. In other words, I highly doubt I'm going to win, but at least I had fun. The map kind of borrows-, that is to say "steals", heavily from Half-Life 2. I imagine many members here frown upon it. But I found it to be a fairly unique challenge - trying to figure out how Valve did certain things, certain effects, built certain areas, etc., it was a great learning experience. Plus, I have a new found respect for neon blue-green lights. After all, imitation is the highest form of flattery, eh? Tequila
Looks great, gonna give it a whirl now. Edit: Oh man, this is brilliant. The scale blows my mind! Might work against you though, as from the looks of this you'd need 16 players at least to have a proper game, and that's a lot of bandwidth what with the physics. Also, I don't want to spoil it for anyone else, but the teleport is very cool.
EjrulF
the lightning looks kinda bland, but the overall looks really good!
JAL
One of the best contest entries I´ve seen so far. You even have the citadel tower thingy  A slight fps drop in the "main" outside canal area, but nothing alarming. Also a working crane would be awesome Edit: I mean one of those big cranes

Marcos
All the details you added looks awesome! They realy fits the map, giving it a realistic look, and it's not overdone. I bet the pier and the warehouse is the main battle areas? I think the warehouse would work better if you removed the wall. It looks abit cramped on both sides. Other than that, it looks great! JAL
I think the warehouse would work better if you removed the wall. If you mean removing the warehouse outer walls it would lead to a massive fps drop since all the stuff inside the warehouse would be rendered when players are outside and vice versa. And nobody wants laggy gameplay But if you´re referring to some other wall...well then Im just talking bullshit
Minos
Cool, the first pic really remembers me of the tsnumanis

von*ferret
I love you CJ so I'm going to be harsh. The indoors looks promising and nice. The outdoors look ok but are simply a ton of props and water. I'm curious if you can get on top of the canal things. I think you can but you should take a pic from there. Very pretty though
Kamikazi!
It does look very pretty. But, performance is awful outside, breaks the limits way too much for multiplayer gaming. It is HUGE. Only way I could see it being the right size is removing all the indoor areas, or wait until hl2dm supports 32 players.
Campaignjunkie
Thanks for the comments - Yes, performance is rather bad outside, especially if you have reflecting/refracting water enabled. At the time I started, I really had no idea how much Source could do, performance-wise. The map kind of "spiraled out of control" in terms of size, which is a phenomenon I'm sure many of us are accustomed to. Feature-creep = evil. But at least now I've learned some great, valuable lessons.
