knj Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 This is our new project. Not much to say at this point, but this trailer ain't a movie (most of it is a in engine stuff, some small aprts are actuall live actors), try to guess what's - what is real anyways, at this point i can't say much, but this is sp/multi player quite odd combination, where you need to see both sides of conflict to understand the story. We are using heavy photoscans, which has some pros and cons, but maybe later on we can start a discussion here about it. I just hope you like the trailer Some in game shots OrnateBaboon, Steppenwolf, Sentura and 8 others 11 Quote
Beck Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Is this the technology you use for the environment scanning? http://vimeo.com/61436948 How is it? Does it require much cleaning up afterwards etc? Also, it's nice to finally see that Corner Shot getting used in a video game! Surprised it took this long to make it into one! knj Posted January 8, 2014 Author Report Posted January 8, 2014 Yep thats "Thorskan", at this point I don't touch scans, just do the "traditional" env art, but i work closly with the scans. And yes, there is loads of stuff to clean up when you scan such big areas like that warehouse you saw in that trailer. Corner shot is very interesting weapon and here it will have environmental need to use it Quote
penE Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Interesting, would love to read more on the topic. Quote
paranoidMonkey Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Nice stuff. Like the way the weapon screen on the second screenshot shows the guy getting shot even before it really happens. And the reflex on the blood on the first screenshot.. (some kind twist or what?) Thrik Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Sounds like some really interesting shit. I bet these kinds of tools could work on many levels, from trying to take in a whole room (perhaps not so flexible) to creating really detailed reusable panels for walls and shit. Quote
KoKo5oVaR Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Well of course that looks realistic as hell, but i can't help but think of those animators doing nothing but cleaning motion capture for a year on games featuring only human characters. And i am scared. Sentura 1 Quote
knj Posted January 8, 2014 Author Report Posted January 8, 2014 @ paranoid - great find, i can tell you that not all ppl are able to see that cause they are more looking at those scans, rather than on the mobile or blood splatter. And yes, this is story driven, not much more i can say @ Thrik man, my 3,5y old PC can run like 30 fps at this point, but the levels are empty more or less now, still don't worry about performence. I must say that it's fuckin creepy to walk in those warehouses as in game, cause it's really fucking just "real" Quote
knj Posted January 8, 2014 Author Report Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) Kokos, as i said, and not only in terms of animations but mostly about env art, and all this looking really well and real, there is lots of cons Edited January 8, 2014 by knj Quote

Pampers Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 do you have to find real life location for every environment you make? how much can you change after you have completely scanned a room? it looks really nice, but seems like you have to design everything around what you are able to scan Rick_D 1 Quote
Buddy Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Google that name i typed above there I find it funny how people think there are live action clips in there, arguing on the internets hehe. Quote
Warby Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 looks great but i (think) i have no trouble keeping the in-game footage and the live action bits apart. Quote
