Nerve Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 (edited) I'm putting together a CV which focuses on my QA experience and I'm just wondering what (other than relevant work experience) would be good to include. My previous experience has been at web/software companies, so I've become familiar with testing cycles, bug reporting and different tracking & project management tools, so I'll be including that too. Thought I'd ask here for a few tips as the majority of you are working in the games industry and/or may have some QA experience. Any advice would be a huge help. selmitto Posted December 12, 2013 Report Posted December 12, 2013 Be sure to point out that you know how to do a bug report in a structured way and properly communicate with the developers. However, you could include that just briefly and leave the interview moment to tell how you would do such things. What would be your priorities if you had just a short time to test a game? Good luck! blackdog Posted December 13, 2013 Report Posted December 13, 2013 All you need to highlight is written in the job opening. If not in the company you intend to apply, requests are all about the same, i'm sure you noticed reading different job descriptions. Bug reporting is definitely very important, highlight the software you used and somewhere was suggested to attach a bug report to demonstrate the kind of feedback you provide. Some companies (EA that i've seen) require in some applications a certification about general software quality assurance, if you have any certification in the field, provide it. Reviewing a game is also encouraged by several companies and mentors. I personally still wonder if they prefear to read about a game developed by the company you apply to or if it's ok one in the same genre (eg. fps). Wish you best of luck, didn't turn out well for me (yet), but i don't have bug reporting in my cv. Nerve 1 Quote
