Beck Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Hope its more like new vegas than fallout3 How can you say that?! D: FONV has nothing on FO3. The setting and explorable locations were so much better, and far more interesting. But it definitely needs the progression system of skyrim, where you gain experience with the weapons you use and if you sneak. Maybe they could include stamina and health in that as well... melee characters would naturally have their health increase faster to complement their tanky nature, and characters who run a lot would have increased stamina letting them hold their breath more or swing more with a weapon. Please let there be coop as well, that would be icing on the cake. Yeah I'd love to see a better progression system. I shouldn't be able to dump points into lockpicking after not picking a single lock. I'm not sure about coop though. I think the magic of Fallout is that you're pretty much alone in the wasteland and you need to make your own way through your own story. Though I guess it wouldn't be so bad to let someone control a companion you might have with you. Still, I think I'd rather play alone in Fallout. I'd agree the locations and the feel of Fallout 3 was leaps and bounds ahead of Fallout: New Vegas. I think it looked better too, but I guess that's down to the world being slightly smaller. I think FO:NV kind of had a better story and some improved mechanics. They're both great games in my eyes, can't get enough of the Fallout universe Quote
Steppenwolf Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 I enjoyed FO 3 more then NV, mostly because 3 had more and better dungeons. -HP- and jackophant 2 Quote
Sprony Posted May 12, 2015 Author Report Posted May 12, 2015 I enjoyed both a lot. Spent roughly 150 hours combined on them. But they weren't without criticism. There wasn't a lot that really bothered me though. Sure, they couldn't hold a candle next to the originals but still. Only exception being the Brotherhood of Steel. In the original Fallout this was such an mystical organisation that you just wanted to be a part of. The game did give you a glimpse but never showed all it's cards. In Fallout 2 they were present but nothing more. Fallout 3 however completely destroyed the mysteries surrounding the Brotherhood. The appeal was gone. Power Armor was just another armor. No, I would like this new game to stay as far away as possible from the Brotherhood, Super Mutants or the Enclave. Let them come up with new interesting factions like the Gunrunners, Children of Cathedral, Slavers and Thieves Guild and so on. Quote
Vaya Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Did you guys play new vegas in hardcore mode? Quote
Puddy Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 I enjoyed FO 3 more then NV, mostly because 3 had more and better dungeons. Same here. I also felt like NV was more like an ambitious mod and FO3 was more polished (and was released earlier, so the graphics weren't as outdated). jackophant 1 Quote
jackophant Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 I would like to see a post-apocalyptic game based in england. I think Killing Floor sort of covered it, and Hellgate: London sort of... died, but I think London's rich history would lend itself well to a game like that. Plz fallout, not more featureless deserts Quote
Sentura Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 at least NV wasnt all green. Plus the dead money DLC is some of the best content I've played for any game ever Quote
Vorontsov Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Imagine if they implement paid mods in a shitty way for this at launch blackdog 1 Quote
blackdog Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 I'm a bit baffled by all this praise for FO3… around here always complaining about grey palettes, and FO was one of the most smeared graphics, all gray/green. I don't like RPGs in the first place (I can't stand the "points distribution" mechanic) but the aiming mechanic made sure I was never getting near the game. Happy for you guys if you get a sequel soon. Personally just interested in Dishonored, although haven't had the time to play the first yet (only started it) Quote
Steppenwolf Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 FO3 was ugly but was a really good game imo despite oldschool fanboys whining about it. jackophant 1 Quote
Vilham Posted May 12, 2015 Report Posted May 12, 2015 Old school fanboy, still loved FO3, game was great. It missed some elements that made the originals amazing, but it isn't the same genre so what can you expect. -HP- and Buddy 2 Quote

Personally just interested in Dishonored, although haven't had the time to play the first yet (only started it) The grey/green was the tone for the nuclear apocalypse obv I thought it worked in setting the mood. The point distribution is a major gripe of mine, I much prefer the more recent Skyrim method of gaining experience for something the more you use it, but it's a more recent game and gameplay would be expected to improve. If the aiming mechanic you are talking about is VATS ( the stop time and target various body parts and each shot utilises a certain number of AP) that was just a method of battle. You could build your character to specialise in VATS combat, but I personally didn't bother. I didn't need the computer to tell me I had a 30% of taking the guys head off at 5 paces away when I could just shoot him in the face myself (or punch, I'm a large advocate of melee characters when the option is available). But seriously, watch this space, I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but I think you've missed a gem! Edited May 13, 2015 by jackophant Quote
blackdog Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 Still, when other games get monochromatic they get criticized... I say that sometimes the art choice works and sometimes doesn't, the reason why there's a filter doesn't matter much. Yeah was talking about VATS, might be optional but still consider it a ridiculous thing to implement. Quote
Buddy Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 The VATS thing was put into the game to satisfiy the hardcore FO1/2 players and made a bit more sense on consoles than it did on the PC. jackophant and Sprony 2 Quote
Buddy Posted May 13, 2015 Report Posted May 13, 2015 I was mad pissed at Fo3 ending though, the fact that you couldnt tell your mutant companion to get inside that chamber made no sense Quote
