Guest Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 Ohhh, yeah. I have a ton! I'll probably put my favorite ones here once I finish the game. I think I'm pretty close. Would love you see everyone else's too - photo mode is so addictive! Quote
-HP- Posted May 11, 2016 Report Posted May 11, 2016 Yeah, I took a few but I try not to focus on taking screenshots on my first playthrough. I wanna savor the experience as a gamer first, then I'll turn on my developer mode and will do a proper screenshot playthrough. This is from neogaf, minor location spoilers after the click, prepare for GOODNESS. Spoiler If you're still on the fence about picking this up after seeing these shots, you've got no heart or soul. Thrik Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 This game is absolutely magnificent. I'm only a few chapters in and already I'm astonished by the consistently unreal amounts of loving detail everywhere. I remember when Uncharted 2 first impressed me with its large vistas and lots of environmental animations everywhere — something that a lot of games still fail to understand is key to giving the impression of a living, breathing environment. Uncharted 4 just packs so much of this detail into its bewilderingly large landscapes. It's not about polies or raw fidelity (although they help), but just the artistic craftsmanship at work here. Forget about the graphics though. That's not even what makes this game so good. What really sets it apart is its complete mastery of the art of producing a linear scripted game. Nowadays words like 'linear' and 'scripted' are often perceived as negatives, but in a time when most games strive to be open world it's actually really refreshing to have a game dedicate itself so fully to bombastic cinematic moments and emotional impact. For example, the way Naughty Dog handles a death relatively early in the game while you're fully in control just feels like something out of a film. I can't wait to see what the rest of the game has in store. -HP- 1 Quote
Logic Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 I've always wanted to play the Uncharted series, but I have never owned a Playstation and probably never will The visuals look incredible! Damn you exclusives! Quote
Thrik Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 Dude you can practically pick a PS4 up for pocket change now. Go buy one, and play the Uncharted remastered collection then The Last of Us remastered then Uncharted 4!!!!! Logic and -HP- 2 Quote

Thrik Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 Haha I know, but it's becoming a steal for the superb games and back catalogue you can enjoy. Or at least get a PS3 for the original versions of these games plus the endless excellent games available on there. I genuinely feel bad for people who haven't experienced masterpieces like Uncharted 2 and The Last of Us. It's almost like it'd be kinder to just shoot them dead like a horse with a broken leg. -HP- and Logic 2 Quote
Sprony Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 It's a great time to be alive guys. I've always been proud to be a 80's child. I've been there since the beginning. Watching huge pixel blocks in Pitfall on the Atari evolve into the new Uncharted. I wouldn't want to have it any other way. Plus, I still got a lot of mileage left (hopefully). Bring on the new stuff to amaze me and make me feel like that little 5 year old boy again who just discovered his first virtual world. Quote

Zarsky Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 Finally found this awesome talk about ND's texturing pipeline: Btw. Logic, I figured out that because my budget is thin, I can split the cost of a PS4 with a good friend of mine...neither of us has that much time to play so we play when we get a proper chance to dive into that gorgeous world ND has crafted. It sure feels like torture to reading all the hype. I really want to play this masterpiece....just need a little more patience. :/ Quote
2d-chris Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 I'm waiting for the new PS4 that will support the new 4k bluray (I assume), then I'll play the hell out of this Quote

Or, you can get a PS3 for around 75 bucks or less and play all the Uncharted games and last of us. They wouldn't be 60fps like the HD remaster, but it also wasn't the first time I played them and it was still an amazing experience to play every single one of those games. They're games that I still replay up to this day, I just finished all 3 again in preparation for this one, it's like having your favourit desert again, it's not as impactful as the first time but it's still delicious as fuck. Guest Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 (edited) Okay, I couldn't sleep so I just finished the game last night. About 18 hours on "moderate" difficulty. I really don't know what to say, there's so much to talk about. I feel the same way after playing every new Naughty Dog release, I'm just in awe of what they've managed to accomplish. I think I'm just gonna play it again. On the surface they've managed to create an awesome blockbuster action experience, but they've filled it with so much depth in both a story and gameplay sense. The characters and the story feel genuine and relatable in alot of ways, despite it all taking place in this incredibly stylized reality. Even though Uncharted games are known for being very cinematic, they really do tell their story in a way that could only be done through the medium of video games. They nailed both the active/action levels and the more passive/exploratory levels. It's clear that they learned alot from the The Last of Us with it's more understated environmental storytelling, and it makes exploring each level such a rich and rewarding experience. Everything about this game hits a level of polish/perfection that you just don't see in video games. Uncharted 4 is how you make a blockbuster game the right way, I just hope that other AAA studios are influenced by what ND have managed to achieve. No matter what interests you about video games, whether it be action, storytelling, art, design, technology, music etc. - I guarantee this game will have something that will fascinate you. If I were going to show anyone one game to explain to them why video games are incredible, I would show them Uncharted 4. It really is one of our young medium's masterpieces. Below are some of my screenshots that I took along the way, the scenery is absolutely stunning. Can confidently say it's the most beautiful game I've ever played. (Location spoilers for the entire game! Scroll at your own risk!) Spoiler These caverns actually look photo-realistic, even with the screenshots being compressed. Just insane. Probably my new wallpaper. " Word of the day: ostentatious " There are levels that transition seamlessly from clear to stormy or from early morning to mid-day. So cool. A little bit later in the same level. Alot of what you can see in the distance in this shot below is explorable terrain, either on foot or by jeep. Of course there's a limit but it's very open-ended. You use your jeep throughout this level and other levels in the game to solve puzzles/explore in really interesting ways. There are more settings/themes than just these. I just don't have very good screenshots from every single level. Every level looks incredible. Edited May 12, 2016 by nikkoship Quote
Mazy Posted May 15, 2016 Report Posted May 15, 2016 Finished it earlier, apart from taking a while to get properly going and from my experience having a really rough first impression with the very first boat scene, then it's absolutely phenomenal once it does going. I'd almost dare to say that this outdoes Uncharted 2, a game I hold in probably too high regard anyway, and feels like a much more considered and impactful experience than Uncharted 2, even if you do end up having slaughtered some 500 guys by the end of the game. Also cannot be understated just how fucking gorgeous this game is, especially the latter half of the game just looks unbelievably good, I bet most folks here end up taking way longer to play through this game than regular peoples since we end up standing around and just marveling at how good this shit looks. Combined with cutscenes that almost feels like a middle finger to other game dev when they seamlessly blend from gameplay to cutscenes and keep the same weapons in the cutscenes, crazy pants. Absolutely wonderful small scale sandbox encounters as well, really dug the level design in the later locations. Anyway, best game in a long while, you're officially a crazy person if you don't play this (or buy a PS4 to play this). The End. Zarsky, Squad, Thrik and 1 other 4 Quote

Been planning to get a used PS4 since they announced those remasters, and skip the hassle of the PSGrill. Had some spare change some month and a half ago but ended up putting it in the bank instead. Wanted to buy the games and play on the PS4 of a colleague (is in the shared staff room) but in the end don't have much time to play anything and saved the money for those games as well. So much DO WANT tho. Edited May 16, 2016 by blackdog Quote
