Just listened to an Italian journalist that is at the GDC: he's saying it's the real deal, the real Alien experience everyone has always waited for. That it's really scary, people in the demo room were screaming from time to time.

He also says something that makes it sound like there's a "hold your breath" feature when hiding at a close distance from the Xenomorph... true?

I really reaaaaally want to believe in this game and I'm still hopeful but reading RPS's preview turned my hype down somewhat.

I know it's just one review and they should always be taken with a grain of salt but a lot of the issues he raises are what I'm afraid of with a game like that... But I believe!

I kind of believe the preview. It'd be really difficult to do what this game sets out to do (believable Alien AI which never feels annoying when it pwns you), but time will tell.

I played the demo a while back and I enjoyed it. It's just one small slice of the game primarily featuring the Alien, so of course it's going to get less intense when you replay it over and over. I think the tension in the game resides in not knowing when/where the Alien is going to appear.

 

I shared similar concerns with the Alien AI too.

But maybe it doesn't have an Alien in it. Who knows. Maybe it has 9 Aliens in it. Maybe 50. Maybe you play AS the Alien.

OFT, never understood this, it's like the hardest thing to get them to play the game. And yes by saying 'they' I'm lumping all you arty types together, but have yet to be proven otherwise that this is the case In my experience the only time they do play the game is about 2 weeks before it's released and then they delight in coming to tell all the designers everything that's wrong with the game that there is no longer any time to do anything about. You bastards.
