Alien: Isolation

my only problem with this is the alien AI design - it's just Amnesia? it doesn't feel like an alien - just a big clunky monster that walks around and doesn't seem to so much as hunt you as just wander around and let you run 5 metres behind it?

 

maybe it makes it more atmospheric and perhaps even makes for better design and more "hilarious" amnesia-like youtube reaction videos but it just doesn't feel like an actual alien so far..

 

That's probably because it's not the same medium rick, we are used to see that monster design in a movie format with creepy effects like close shots on his funny second mouth or see him only as a passing shadow in the ceiling while other caracters are terrified etc.. 

 

But since you have control on the camera angle in a fps and can see the alien in full, not just bribes that suggest its presence, i guess it's not the same effect.

There's no saying it's done the Frictional Games way. I'm thinking more like Clock Tower 3 with modular scare moments.

I think I've been forced to sit through the whole film 3 times so far, we have several wall-mounted TVs in the studio of which always at least one is playing the movie on loop 24/7.

It reminds me of that scene in 28 Days Later when they're forcing the chimps to watch violent footage over and over to condition them to be.. violent.

 

I don't know what I'm being conditioned to do at CA, but I do feel very calm about having to blow up an industrial mining vessel, if ever that situation should crop up.

I'm kinda glad I'm not either of you tbh. I mean it'd be awesome to work on an Alien game... but like Pampers said, great way to ruin one of your favourite films
