For years I've been waiting for a new Legacy of Kain game. I love the original and Soul Reaver. I own the entire collection on several platforms and I even have the game guides and stuff. There have been rumors for a while about a new game called Nosgoth. It's supposed to be MP only. That got me worried. Today, they released the trailer:

 

 

I feel so violated that I can only post this:

Holy shit.. I loved Legacy of Kain beack then, really great gameplay.

 

But... what is this? What?

I hate these kinda videos where the people that make the game awkwardly appear on camera.. It's so forced. Just do a damn voiceover and stop showing us how many women you employ because you're trying to combat gender inequality!

 

Game itself looks pretty run of the mill though..

I just had to vent (doesn't happen often) on their Facebook Page, YouTube channel, etc. What a relieve. Here's my rant:

 

This is a perfect example of corporate greed. You take the leftovers of a cancelled game, you tailor it to ride the current hype and you make it part of an established franchise so you can slap a name on it for instant brand recognition. That’s good for business and I can’t blame a company for trying to make money.

 

Your marketing department is doing a great job of selling this as favor to us. Except it isn’t a favor. So why lie about it? Why disable comments and likes on YouTube? Because you knew you were going to get a lot of heat. We don’t dislike the game, we dislike what you are trying to shove down our throats while still expecting us to be thankful.

 

 I don’t have to play this game to know what it’s going to be like. We see this formula popping up everywhere and we all know what free to play means in these kinds of games. Stop being so naïve people. Doing a different kind of game or a spinoff is fine. But what does this really have to do with LoK? It’s nothing more than brand recognition and some of you are swallowing it.

 

I applaud innovation, but this isn’t it. You took a franchise, removed everything we loved about it, came up with something that doesn’t have anything to do with it and you hope to persuade us by making it free so you can have us spend money on cosmetics/items/weapons/whatever. It’s like having a Game of Thrones adaptation reduced to short MP matches between Lannister and Stark soldiers. What do you mean, you’re missing the point? Thank you for crushing a fan’s hope of playing a new and real LoK game.
