blackdog Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Isn't this in practice a rebranding of the old DS? Nop, the 3ds' hardware is a lot better and has internet support. The 3DS is a great machine by the way, it's slowly starting to pick up the pace but it's got some awesome games already (Animal Crossing, Monster Hunter, Ocarina of Time, Etrian Odyssey, just to name a few I remember). Of course they are putting in it the latest chips, but without the 3D support, how this isn't just a not foldable DS? Plays DS titles, plays 3DS titles without the 3D... Quote
Thrik Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 Well Nintendo definitely makes it confusing, but the 3DS is considered a new generation of handheld. It's a bit like comparing the PSP to the Vita. The 3DS isn't just a DS that can do 3D, it's a new console with different games that don't run on a DS whether they're 3D or not (you can disable 3D on the 3DS too btw). Basically it goes: Game Boy Game Boy Color Game Boy Advance DS 3DS Each one usually supports the games of the one before, for example the DS plays GBA games and the 3DS plays DS games. All the other models (DSi, XL, GBA SP, etc) are just revisions, not new consoles. The 2DS is a revision of the 3DS but not a DS. It's easy to see why people thought the Wii U was just another Wii revision, right? ⌐■_■ and selmitto 2 Quote
