blackdog Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 We've talked about it here and there, nobody seems captured by it here... or around the world apparently. In fact, latest news are laughable:IGN.com73% of Ouya Owners Yet to Buy a Game: http://go.ign.com/18GlJnDWhy am I not surprised? Thrik 1 Quote
Thrik Posted July 26, 2013 Report Posted July 26, 2013 I really can't see a good future for Ouya. A year or so ago it was all the hype, now I never hear anybody mention it and I don't think I know a single person IRL who even knows what it is. I just can't see what kind of market it's hoping to win over. It can't compete with the main home consoles because they're on a whole different level in terms of capabilities (better graphics, control options, software, interoperability), and it can't compete with casual game devices because people are already perfectly happy with playing them on phones and tablets when they're not in the mood for a proper cinematic experience. It just seems to be fulfilling a purpose nobody is really asking for apart from the technology geeks who like the concept (same people who bought OnLive consoles). It's interesting to see another player in the console arena but this kind of thing isn't going to cut it. All they've done is shown Google and Apple what not to do if they do ever decide to take on the games industry. Quote
blackdog Posted July 26, 2013 Author Report Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) I really cannot understand how it did reach and abundantly surpassed the Kickstarter at all, other than the fact that it was announced in a moment when everybody was bored of current-gen and was looking for a new toy. It needed to came out back then. Or to have a "next-gen" hardware among mobile architectures*.But above all: WTF guys. Why I should ever care as a consumer?*i mean, just yesterday Epic showed their new tech demo with UE4 running on the latest nVidia mobile chip. Edited July 26, 2013 by blackdog Quote
Taylor Posted July 27, 2013 Report Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) How are they calculating this? I know people who only got it last week. I still haven't got mine (not even the shipping e-mail) and support never responded to my query over a week ago. I imagine these are included in the figure. That said, I hear the turnover rate from trials to purchases is really low too so maybe not. Edited July 27, 2013 by Taylor Quote

AlexM Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 wat so the message is to stop wasting cash on crappy games but to still play crappy games? Quote
mjens Posted August 22, 2013 Report Posted August 22, 2013 I was a big fan of Ouya but I see no interest from the developers that can actually make a decent game on this platform. It's Android as I remember, when making game on iPad it's easy to port it but lets check, let's say, Binding of Issac. Porting... The road to hell of porting... Quote
