Taylor Swift Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 im gonna see this next monday in 3d. hell yes! Quote
dkm Posted May 14, 2014 Report Posted May 14, 2014 Thought it was...ok? Some great moments (not gonna spoil!) and I love that they tried to get back to the roots design-wise. The 'hero' was pretty bland though and the movie felt quite impersonal (if that makes sense when talking about giant lizards...) but them lizards do break shit up with style! Sprony 1 Quote
Seldoon182 Posted May 15, 2014 Report Posted May 15, 2014 (edited) Back from the theater. Feel like I saw a NAVY advertising. This movie is full of no sense. Damn I was believing in it after seeing... Btw discover the first Insterstellar Trailer and I might say that this movie is on my #1 top waitlist ! Edited May 15, 2014 by Seldoon182 Quote
Sprony Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 I just saw it in IMAX. It's a proper blockbuster. I love how much effort they put in the origin story and how they tried to make it real (as far as monster movies go). I appreciate the focus on the human side and the characters involved. Sure, some stuff didn't make sense but nothing really apparent. It does a great job making it look plausibel. Visuals are excellent. There were some really beatiful shots as well. All in all a great movie to watch in theathers. Quote
knj Posted May 16, 2014 Report Posted May 16, 2014 Ok good movie guys ! got that old school Godzilla look, old school recipe, and great visuals ! good watch in 3d, the HALO jump scene is fucking EPIC ! Sprony 1 Quote
blackdog Posted May 17, 2014 Report Posted May 17, 2014 You're getting me interested guys, I might try to organise going to see it Quote
Vilham Posted May 17, 2014 Report Posted May 17, 2014 Just got back from watching it. Enjoyed it a lot. Not many movies I watch at the cinema that I can say that about. It has a few odd/nonsensical things, but overall it hit a good note of comedy/action. Quote
Puddy Posted May 18, 2014 Report Posted May 18, 2014 Saw it today. Maybe I wasn't in the right mood but I thought it was pretty meh. It didn't have the playful and over-the-topness of Pacific Rim and didn't really fill that void with anything else. To me, lots of 'muricans standing in a mission control room talking about how to haphazardly nuke shit doesn't count as interesting dialogue. Some scenes were really eye-catching though. Quote
Em' Posted May 18, 2014 Report Posted May 18, 2014 Too long, too boring, too loud. The movie isn't trying to tell us a story, just showing the nostalgia of old lowcost japaneses movies. And Army using pewpew versus gigantic monsters. Could have been 1000x better if they didn't focus on the navy (like in every movie about a disaster ravaging a city) and tried something audacious. but they kept a classical american scenario, blank, seen 100 hundred times. At least, the FX were nice. El Moroes, Seldoon182 and Puddy 3 Quote
