Kinky Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Electronic Arts has closed EA Phenomic, the 60-person strategy developer behind Spellforce and Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances. http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/2013-07-12-ea-phenomic-closed Another one bites the dust. Hopefully no mapcorians are effected. Quote
Thrik Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 Gah. Seems like any developer that touches C&C is ending up with EA rolling down the shutters these days. Quote
e-freak Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 I had all my management and team organization lectures from their COO and he's a fantastic teacher and gave us students at the time a pretty good reality check. sucks to see them go down like this -HP- and penE 2 Quote
Chimeray Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 (edited) Yup, saw this one coming :/ I was talking to one of the guys at EASY studios a couple of weeks back and he said EASY took over pretty much the whole Play4Free department. Phenomic hasn't really done well over the last years (afaik?). It doesn't seem to make a lot of sense to keep them on life support any longer. Or perhaps they were profitable after all but just not enough, I guess it doesn't matter because the restructuring seems to have been the biggest hit. Still... it sucks big time to see another studio close down and hope everyone involved gets back on their feet. Edited July 12, 2013 by Chimeray Quote
Minos Posted July 12, 2013 Report Posted July 12, 2013 There should be a law preventing EA from buying new studios... seriously Quote

That's a pretty big hit for the whole area here. Quote
