Chimeray Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 (edited) Play something that's different? FTL, Monaco, Journey ... It's the golden age of indie gaming! I honestly can't be bothered with the so-so AAA games anymore either. It's either super good and then I'll play it or I try out a new interesting indie game that teaches me something new. Years back I could play it all but yeah... not anymore. Edited July 8, 2013 by Chimeray Taylor Swift 1 Quote
-HP- Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 Still play games every day! Seems to me you're still stuck in the past playing FPS military shooters. Broaden your selection, you'll love it, there's a sea of amazing games out there. Izuno and Taylor Swift 2 Quote

KoKo5oVaR Posted July 8, 2013 Report Posted July 8, 2013 what is an indie game? can you define of what constitutes as indie game. "In the information age, the barriers just aren't there. The barriers are self imposed. If you want to set off and go develop some grand new thing, you don't need millions of dollars of capitalization. You need enough pizza and Diet Coke to stick in your refrigerator, a cheap PC to work on, and the dedication to go through with it. We slept on floors. We waded across rivers." - John Carmack Quote
Chimeray Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 (edited) what is an indie game? can you define of what constitutes as indie game. An Indie game is a game that lacks the golden touch of producers and marketing. Obviously, this makes it a lesser game cos it doesn't benefit from the many "great" improvements they come up with. Taylor Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Journey was funded by Sony but it's an indie game because it's arts. Kinky and Beck 2 Quote
Sprony Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 (edited) I think HP called it. Broaden your selection. I used to play shooters like you but then I took an arrow to the knee. But seriously though, most modern shooters are crap. Diversify and try different things. Indie games can be great but are not neccessarily the way to go. This is how I do it and maybe it helps you: Check out all the games that are announced, read reviews from trusted sources and rely on friends. Check out Kickstarter and keep up with classics games or genres that are coming back. Check out different genres and have a strict selection on what you buy. Don't buy everything and play game for game. Don't start a new one unless you finished the old one. It only lessens the experience. Soon you'll find a genre or a theme or whatever you really like. For me, it's mostly horror/dark/gothic games so you've got genres like Surival Horror, Hack and Slash, RPG, Action games, etc. Also, if you like pre 2000 gaming there's nothing stopping you from going back. I still have everything from back then (NES/SNES/N64/PS/MegaDrive) and still casually play on those systems. I even organise 'classic' nights with friends and do 2 player Road Rash or Streets of Rage. Bring the fun back mate and don't give up an the greatest hobby ever! Brander_Rly Posted July 9, 2013 Report Posted July 9, 2013 Expand your selection as much as possible. If you still feel bored you no longer like games. Kinky 1 Quote
