Kedhrin Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 7 is on steam http://store.steampowered.com/app/39140/ once 8 comes out, i'll replay through it. i played through 7 last year. i have the ff8 pc disks somewhere but its just not the same. Emulators have a rough time with the videos. also, anyone in the ff14 beta??? it's a lot better, even if they did bite a lot of WoW. Quote
Furyo Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Yeah I'm gonna hold off on getting that, a) because the price is kinda steep, and b) because just reading through the achievements made me relive one of 5 or 6 complete walkthroughs I've played of FF7 over the years. I just know it by heart at this point. Quote
Minos Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Does it still hold up? Always wanted to play this game Still pushing myself through Final Fantasy XIII-2, think I'll just get a guide and follow it lol (too many alternate zones and no clue about where to go next ) Quote
dux Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 Am I the only one here who doesn't care at all for FF? knj, Mazy, RaVaGe and 2 others 5 Quote
marks Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 The ending of FF8 was the last time I ever cried. It marked the transition from boy to man. It is a rite of passage. Legit. Kedhrin, PogoP and Minos 3 Quote
Furyo Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 I loathed FF8 with a passion. Played it at 20, whereas I played FF7 at age 17. By 20, the angsty teenager mob that FF8 is infested with really pissed me off. In comparison, FF7 was so much more of an instant classic with its story that could enchant 5 year olds to 99 year olds. Just purely magical. Minos, yeah the game holds up, absolutely. Of course the graphics department is going to make your eyes squint a bit, but gameplay is still among the very best in the genre, story is the all-time environmental protection classic, characters are (mostly) deep and interesting, the entire game suffers no slow part. Vilham Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 FF8 is the worst of the Playstation 1 final fantasy games. Quote
Taylor Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 It has aged in places, I mean even in its own generation the comical square characters were out-dated, although I believe the PC version has mods that let you swap them for the high-poly combat models. Mechanics and story wise it's easily one of the best and it's usually FF6 and FF7 are tied for "best final fantasy" by sane people. It's definitely worth picking up if you're interested, especially if you've only been exposed to modern final fantasy and want to see what it was like before it was poop. The materia system is probably the best magic system they've done and it's really fun to play around with. Am I the only one here who doesn't care at all for FF?So brave! Quote
ElectroSheep Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 FF7 was the first game of my Playstation with Tomb Raider 2. my parents bought me those with a new PS1 without knowing anything at all except from TR2 because I had TR1 on Saturn and my mother know I loved it (I was 9) The first time I launched FF7 I was just like WTF because I didn't know anything at all about RPG then I wait maybe 6 month before retrying it, on of the best game I've played. PogoP Posted July 4, 2013 Report Posted July 4, 2013 FF8 was awesome. All other opinions are invalid. Kedhrin and Chimeray 2 Quote
Kedhrin Posted July 4, 2013 Author Report Posted July 4, 2013 FF8 was awesome. All other opinions are invalid. i wont lie. i liked final fantasy 8 more than final fantasy 7. the story was better in 7, sure, but the gameplay/feel/and pacing in 8 was better. Quote
Kedhrin Posted July 4, 2013 Author Report Posted July 4, 2013 but i never did get into final fantasy 9 i tried starting it twice, but it i didn't click. i'll have to give it another shot soon. Quote
