Thrik Posted June 10, 2013 Author Report Posted June 10, 2013 I'd say there's a lot of influence from Android too. I'm kind of sad to see the old texture-filled designs gone, but this new stuff does look great IMO. I enjoyed Android's simplicity but the usability of it was pretty annoying in places, not something Apple has ever really had problems with. Quote
Minos Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 That looks likes crappy corel draw mock ups from the 90s lol God I'm grumpy today... Sentura 1 Quote

Thrik Posted June 11, 2013 Author Report Posted June 11, 2013 Some things are a definite move forwards, but some things like the icons for some of the apps are bafflingly 'wat'. blackdog 1 Quote
Chimeray Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 I think it looks super sleek and modern. I'm not an Apple fanboy though I barely ever touched one and don't know what Ios6 looks like, I can only compare it to my Android device. But yeah, looks sweet! Quote
blackdog Posted June 11, 2013 Report Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) I watched the keynote when I got bored by EA's. I'm surprised they had the courage to revolutionize like this... I guess there will be a lot of pissed off, unaware, casual-users at launch of this. Personally I quite like it, I was definitely bored by iOS' UI and some aspects of its interface were just mashed together. Looks like it takes the general ideas from Android, with the clean typography and flatness of WP, but it goes a bit too extreme in some places, it looks "flat for the purpous to be flat" (i read an intersting article on this subject the other day)... which is an impression strenghtened by some horrible icons, which also feature soft gradients that simply don't fit (i'm looking at the Camera icon, its glyph is even different between dashboard and quick-commands-drawer). It's easy to find better stuff on Dribbble, someone should start a petition to ask to change those On the other hand, they improved several behaviours, adapting and using the medium as it should: nice transitions to look into app folders at full screen for example, or how you can get bird's eye view of Calendar and Photos; multitasking now works as I was expecting when it debuted first. It's stunning they could overhaul like this so quickly after the Maps debacle, this rush clearly left some rough edges, so I guess some will be smoothed in time for launch, some after the release.
