blackdog Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Just throwing this out there for those who fancy Super Meat Boy and Portal. Found by chance about this game by a two-man Italian team on our most important indie network. It's in a "closed" beta state (send an email and they link you the beta release). Quote
Sentura Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 looks cool. I'm kind put off in general with games like these because just like combat I get puzzle fatigue when I play for too long Quote
blackdog Posted May 29, 2013 Author Report Posted May 29, 2013 (edited) My complaint would be it really looks too much alike Portal, other than that I hope they are going to improve the ball behaviour, it feels really strange when it jumps around, like no real weight. I'm kinda the same as you, I like puzzle games, but they are so progressive when done right, that you are hooked until you can't go on anymore. Then it's really difficult to pick them up again. Eg: I still have IloMilo left halfway One thing about this kind of staged puzzles, that I experienced with Super Meat Boy (demo) is that you just have time to get a sense of flow and rithm, aaaaand it's gone, because you finish the level. I'd prefear slightly longer "tracks", just to get that sense of accomplishment. Trials is perfect in this (in its first three difficulties). Edited May 29, 2013 by blackdog Quote
selmitto Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 Looks interesting. Deffo Super Meat Boy mechanics (in a general sense) with Portal 2 setting (maybe too much of it?). Quote

Yeah, definitely... doors A-B and item droppers are identical to Portal's. I'd hope they would try something different, but I've listened to a lenghty Q&A and it seems the project is pretty definitive as it is, just "more (difficult!) levels, more themes" (acid theme, night theme etc). I hope they spend some time polishing, because with that little more it could really be intersting for lot of puzzle-platformers fans. Quote
