Pampers Posted July 17, 2017 Report Posted July 17, 2017 Spoiler Ed Sheeran was a bit immersion breaking imho, should have been more subtle like the other cameos in the show Beck, blackdog, ChA1NsAw and 3 others 6 Quote

Beck Posted July 18, 2017 Report Posted July 18, 2017 (edited) Yep, very happy with that opening to the season. Now, is it next week yet? Spoiler Opening scene was awesome. Always enjoyed Walder Frey so was nice to see "him" once more. Great scene for Arya's character though. Ed Sheeren, meh, way too in your face and would have preferred more of some other characters than just getting him in for the sake of it. Felt sorry for the Hound. Love his character, he's really a nice guy now and I'm sure he'll redeem his past sins/wrongs. Dragonstone looked fucking sick. Who the hell wants the Iron Throne? That throne looked bad ass! Tisky Posted July 18, 2017 Report Posted July 18, 2017 Spoiler Love the hound and his merry gang of robin hoodish people. They will probably play a bigger part against the wight walkers than we think. Quote
Sigma Posted July 18, 2017 Report Posted July 18, 2017 (edited) Spoiler Awesome opening to the episode. It was well paced throughout and I enjoyed it keeping up with every major character. I continue to be impressed with the character development of Jaime Lannister, Tryion Lannister, and even Cersei had an interesting continuation/development this episode. David Bradley did an awesome job for this episode as Frey, with nuanced acting that portrayed he was not quite Walder. Overal rating of episode 9/10 (1 point lost for the humorous, albeit long, onslaught of bedpans that Sam dealt with combined with the infamous Ed Sheeran cameo that had no point other than to give Arya a better means to reach King's Landing (honestly, he sang and that was it - barely talked afterwards). Sprony Posted July 24, 2017 Author Report Posted July 24, 2017 Ok, Euron is my new favorite. Truly a magnificent cunt. Quote
blackdog Posted July 26, 2017 Report Posted July 26, 2017 Guess I'm the only one that has found these episodes quite average. First one in particular. I understand though that they have to touch base with all the main characters and storylines to refresh people memories. That's not to say that they had very impressive visual pieces in there. Quote
Sigma Posted July 31, 2017 Report Posted July 31, 2017 (edited) Beware the spoilers: Spoiler Why yes Daenerys, you do act like a child. But not so much as professional whiner Cersei. Although Jon is probably the greatest whiner of them all. Also, Sam is the biggest badass in GoT. I mean... dude cured a man of an incurable disease. Although let's be honest, as clearly mentioned in the line from the Arch-Meister they know it is a sub-epidermis infection (and not simply topical) that causes stone skin. Why the hell do they not have some anti-biotics? They have poisons, antidotes, but not fucking ingestable medicine's for a clearly HIGHLY FREAKING CONTAGIOUS disease?! Also, you telling me you wear clearly freaking protective cloth but you don't bother to protect your hands and face? Also, with all the mulled wine, beer, mead, etc . . . that is present in every episode, nobody has figured out penicillin?! But hey, it's basically the dark ages for them. It was nice to see Tyrion and Jon's relationship develop a little bit further. Very interesting that Tyrion straight up asked how to help Jon. . . what does he know? Anyway - watched the episode while playing GoT Risk with some friends. Was fun. Edited July 31, 2017 by Sigma blackdog 1 Quote
blackdog Posted July 31, 2017 Report Posted July 31, 2017 Spoiled the moment for myself at the end of Ep3 when I asked to myself "do they know?" when Jamie pours a strong wine to lady Tyrell. Quote
Sprony Posted July 31, 2017 Author Report Posted July 31, 2017 My enthusiasm about finally seeing where the story goes beyond the books has quickly turned into disappointment. The show has great production values and it's still a blast to watch in all come together. But especially in tonight's episode, I feel like I'm watching a highlight real of an epic saga instead of watching the actual thing. Kinda like those YouTube videos where they do Lords of the Rings in 10 minutes or less. They keep cutting stuff, everybody magically appears everywhere without the need to travel and it's just going at a break neck pace. I'm not a fan of this direction. Having said all that, Cersei does know how to take revenge Quote
blackdog Posted July 31, 2017 Report Posted July 31, 2017 For as good as it was for the character Sam, I think the way they resolved his insubordination was quite on the spectator's nose. I wouldn't say they were going so fast --I think that description fits with this ep3: Sam story, Greyjoy, Jamie-- what annoyed me is the jumping all across Westeros to touch base with everyone. I guess it's fair/expected to catch up at start of the season and setup the main bits, but with only 7(!!) episodes in a season now they need to focus to two main plots and one side story at best and hammer it down.
